Hello! If your power is still out following Thursday night's storm, thank you for your continued patience. The town has set up a cooling center at the gym, please see information below.
We have been in contact with Pepco to try to get them to speed up their repairs, but unfortunately there were downed trees throughout the region and the repairs they need to do are much more extensive than their capacity to do the repairs. They have brought in crews from across the country to help.
The crews on the scene in the alley between Cheverly Ave and Parkway report that they estimate the work will take another 7 or so hours. That is just an estimate; the official restoration estimate from the central office still says tomorrow, but we're hopeful it will be repaired today.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything; I hope everyone is able to stay cool!
The Town of Cheverly is aware of the current power outage affecting residents in several areas of the community. We understand how difficult and uncomfortable this can be, especially during high heat.
If your home is too hot or you need a place to cool down, Cheverly Town Hall Gym is open to the public as a cooling space on the following schedule:
Today, Friday, June 20th: until 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 21st: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sunday, June 22nd: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (if power remains out)
Please feel free to stop by Town Hall at 6401 Forest Road for relief.
To report a power outage or check on restoration status, please contact PEPCO directly at 1-877-737-2662 or www.pepco.com.
Thank you for your patience and resilience as we get through this together. Please check on your neighbors, especially those who may need extra assistance during this time.
