lol ebrahim i'll have to bring my coffee n i'll bring some tea and chocolate too to satisfy all addictions......as for water bottles i meant the permanent plastic ones.......dunno why the bottled water from the stores didn't strike.....always dumb in the mornin lol. n i second sumedha on lots of bug spray.......i'm sure everyone likes their skin intact:) also i dunno where we are gng so can you send some weather updates please and my two cents on missing stuff:

TORCH with extra batteries

lipbalm ( i didn't know how important this was in the heat till i went to leh ladakh)

hand sanitizer for all our messy food on the go!

compass n maps maybe depending on how vigorous our hiking is gng to be

n p.s. ebrahim what on earth is a "polyester breathable shirt" ............forewarning mihir is gng to get on ur case on that one!

lipbalm ( i didn't know how important this was in the heat till i went to leh ladakh)

Eb : yes, but not sure if everyone will be willing to share .. ;)

hand sanitizer for all our messy food on the go!

Eb : I need to bring my big bottle of sanitizer

compass n maps maybe depending on how vigorous our hiking is gng to be

Eb : smartphones rule !!!!!!!

n p.s. ebrahim what on earth is a "polyester breathable shirt" ............forewarning mihir is gng to get on ur case on that one!

Eb : well it's going to be hot so please bring something breathable !!! , otherwise ur gng to sweat and be icky sticky smelly .. N that's wat I'm trying to avoid :D. :D

Guys I told this to Bandook and mentioning this here again. I think it is advisable to get hiking shoes. They are different from normal sports shoes because they provide really good grip on trails. I have heard from some friends who have done Angels Landing that hiking shoes are really important for this kind of trail. You can get them in almost all outdoor adventure gear stores. You may also be able to find some in Walmart at times.

Sumedha,

Just pop into your nearest REI or Dick's Sporting Goods and get yourself a pair. Something as basic as this is good for the average hike:  http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11259632

If you want something long-term, get something that is water-resistant as well. The buying process should take more than 1/2 hr.
Am saying this not because the conditions there are slippery or anything, but the way these shoes are designed, they take the stress of your feet and allow you to hike more comfortably.

I think it is absolutely necessary to get hiking shoes if you wish to do the last 0.5 mile of Angels Landing. Without any traction that portion of the hike will be difficult to manage.

Walmart is hit or miss like Ritu said. REI and Rico's are good stores to look into.
