George McQuillan and I went to the groomer rodeo in Washington NH
today to check out the latest in grooming equipment. We saw some of
the greatest grooming equipment the industry has to offer and it was
quite imressive.
Prinorth had the most impressive machine we saw, but at $165,000
dollars it was a little pricy. Tucker also had a very impressive and
awsome looking machine there but it was $155,000 which we thought was
also a little out of our range. The most interesting machine was
brought there by the military (no price available) and hauled around
about a dozrn people. George and I both got to drive and groom with
the ASV machine which is sold by MB Tractor. (pictures available at
their website) The machine did a great job. Groomed very well, had
plenty of power, and was easy to operate. We both felt that for the
price (48,000) size and operating ability, that it would be a great
fit for our club.
I'm hoping to get MB to get the machine up here for a demo but the
only one they have is out for rental and it may be tough to arrange.
Check out the site and tell me what you think.

Looks like just the right size for our area. Anything special to do
with the tracks if they get wet and frozen? You could probably hook up
a plow on the front like a Tucker to help fill in water bars? They say
it will go around 12 mph, how does that compare to grooming speeds of
the Skandic? I'm not sure how this gets funded but I support getting a
new wider groomer! Did you guys talk to the Bow Pioneers club? They
have been using it on their trails.

Plus I think Ed Healey would look really cool driving it!

there is a plow for this groomer. they are still in the process of
getting the equipment mounted to it correctly. they basically put
this machine together in two weeks to get it out there. good idea
about the bow club, they rent the machine when it's not out on demos.
i will contact them for their input. we are in the process of
applying for grants towards the purchase. we'll see how it works out.
