Just a quick reminder-- our troop's sales are independent of what Corbett's troop does, so sell, sell, SELL!!! According to Clara, the girls are hot to do at least one booth sale, so I will keep you posted.

Let's say that our cookie orders will be due January 18th.

Cheers, Mach 5

Hello-

First let me warn you that I have been having major email issues. I can’t access my google accounts on my home computer, so this is just being typed on my phone. Forgive errors, formatting, brevity, etc.

Reminder we do a VERY toned down cookie sale. No pressure to sell anything. My goal I give the kids is 30 boxes so they get the patch.

Also reminder... Ms. Corbett hates cookie sales. If you want to know why be prepared for an hour lecture.

Ok, ok, they are a tradition and the funds really help cover extras for the troop so we participate... here are the basics.

Cookie sales started yesterday. We will end our sales around Jan. 18. The overall sales have many extensions and additional sales opportunities. We won’t participate in those, just too many kids to manage all those parts.

The girls should all have cookie sheets. There is a main form, and detachable mini form. They also have an envelope for collecting money. The forms and money should be collected and checked by your grade level rep or troop liaison. Each grade can decide how to organize this. I need everything in hand by end of school day on January 18. I can’t collect individual forms.

We will participate in the initial sales. We won’t do booth sales, goal sheets, cookie cupboards, etc. The girls will also not get prizes (other than patches), instead we get extra funds.

Cookies cost $5 a box. Yes you need to collect money upfront. I will not place an order without payment. Nutritional info is on the forms.

People can donate boxes to the military. There is a specific column to list donated boxes. You don’t select flavor, just collect the money and Girl Scouts will handle shipping a variety. (Yes, the troops really get them)

The digital cookie online program is new this year. I don’t know much about it. I am not sure if it will make sense with how we manage cookies. I have a meeting tomorrow and will let you know more after talking with other leaders. Right now none of the kids are registered to participate in it.

The cookie rally at the Chicago Wolves game is this weekend and really fun. If you are looking for something to do check it out.

Cookies usually arrive around Valentines Day and they will need to be picked up same day since we don’t have storage at school. More info when I get it.

Enjoy the rest of your break!

Hello-

I will be honest that I don't know what the next two weeks look like for me. Many of the kids know that I was raised partly by my grandparents, and that they have been a huge part of my life. When I got into grad schools I chose to come to Chicago to be with them through their last years. My grandmother pasted years ago, but my grandfather has lived well into his 90s and I spend almost every weekend helping to take care of him. Yes, I drive 2 hours out to Woodstock, IL every weekend to be with him.

On my way home from camp I learned that he was hospitalized for a bleeding issue. Over the last few weeks he has been in and out of the ER, and last night he was moved to a hospice facility. It is possible he could make drastic improvements but at this point it isn't expected. The drs are giving him a week.

As you can imagine this will be a huge loss in my life.

I know we have a number of Girl Scout activities over the next two weeks. I will be at the Brownie meeting today, but I am not sure about next week's workshops and meetings. I hate to cancel on the girls, but I may need to be with my family. I am hoping we can get some adults to help cover the workshops and help the council staff as needed.

On Tuesday of next week the Jrs have a badge workshop for the Social Butterfly Badge. Council will be leading it, but I would love if two adults could be on call to attend in case I am not able to be there.

Also on Tuesday the Cadettes will be working with Nikki on their journey. They should not need anyone extra.

Wednesday I have had two parents offer to stay (Anna S. and Elizabeth/Esther L.' moms). I could use 1-2 additional parents of Daisy-Jrs to help with the big group. They will doing a pirate mermaid scavenger hunt that focuses on financial literacy. The cadettes will be earning the Comparison Shopper Badge, and I need 1 person willing to stay with them. The council will be running these programs, so you just need to be willing to jump in and lend a hand as needed.

I know it is the day of the winter assembly. If your child is not staying for the Girl Scout workshop please let me know ASAP.  I will make sure all the payments are handled tonight. The troop delegates will know how to handle snack.

I am sorry to put this on everyone, and there is a chance that I could be at one or both events next week. I just would prefer to prepare for the worst case scenarios.

Please let me know.

Yours in Girl Scouting, Ms. Corbett
