Also, since the orientation has since passed, I will attach a copy of the presentation to whomever is your new financial signatory.

Attendance to Orientation:
This date is a mandatory orientation to the UFB process - Orientation will be an opportunity for you to meet your rep, learn how to navigate the funding process at Brown University and get accustomed to the funding policies of UFB. ALSO YOU WILL GET TO KNOW THE NEW POLICIES.

Background
I’m very excited to learn about all of the different groups at Brown, and can’t wait to work with you all. Over the year, I’ll help you develop proposals for UFB. In addition, if you need anything else, feel free to contact me! This year, UFB is working especially hard on keeping in touch with each of the student groups. So whether you have a small budgeting issue or need help with a huge proposal, don’t hesitate to ask for help. As a UFB representative, I’m trained, and more than happy to help you.
Funding Requests
I understand some of you know tons about budgeting, and many of you are new to the process. I wanted to make one distinction clear that many people get confused about. There are two types of budget requests for UFB:
-Supplemental Funding Requests: These are requests made throughout the year for special events
-Spring Budgeting Requests: These are made in the spring to prepare for the next academic year and required of all Category III groups (so this spring, you will submit a budget for Fall 2014 & Spring 2015 funding)
If you aren't sure of the difference, feel free to ask me with more questions. Below are some important rules.
Important Rules
· You must meet with me before you present a supplemental budget (there are absolutely no exceptions to this rule). Supplemental requests must be in the template form on the UFB website.
· For the 2013-2014 academic year, we are requiring that groups bring 12 copies of their final budget and check-in online before their meeting.
· For all supplemental requests, at least one financial signatory must be present at each meeting. Additional members may attend, but at least one financial signatory is required to attend and present the budget.
· Meetings this year are on Tuesday / Thursday at 8pm in Faunce Memorial Room
