No hijack at all, interfacing with the z5500 would be great.
I have since moved to another solution and wrote my scripts to understand the status depending on power consumption (as im only using the sub now), but being able to fully control it would be absolutely great.
Good luck!
I have just brought me the Z5500 speaker set and I was sitting there playing some video games and then my dog ran under the desk and it killed my speakers. They won't power on anymore there is no power light on the control station I have checked there is power to the main sub and it is on and all the cables are plugged in...
Anyone have any ideas, I think maybe the dog knocked the power board and it blew the fuse in the sub. it is still under warranty but before I take it back to the shop anyone have any ideas

Are you 100% sure? Not to sound patronising or anything but I did the same thing, it turns out the D-SUB cable for the control dock wasn't plugged into the sub on my Z-2300s.
The fuse blew on my z5500's as well. You should only have to take out a small cap with the fuse inside it on the sub. You don't have to pull it apart or anything. I don't see how it could void the warrenty, it seems like it was made for easy access.

Same thing happened to me. It's just a blown fuse. If you google your speakers/blown fuse there are a few discussions on what type of fuse to get. From memory when it happened to mine I got 10 fused for $5 or vice versa at dick smith, quite cheap. Replacing the fuse is easy, as mentioned above you just unscrew a cap at the back of your sub.
How do you blow the fuse??? Lol I constantly play music on my pc when I'm on, and if I'm not on the pc it's my sister. So the pc is pretty much on the whole night till I sleep.
I've put it on boost mode before but all i got from that was a smoky smell (speakers still worked).
hmm just read this thread and it seems the z-5500 can have its fuses blown easily ?
well according to my experience the fuse that comes with the speakers is CRAP! both of my new sets had the fuse blown within the first week!
I bought pack of 5 fuses from Jaycar and it never blew up or anything. btw i recommend buying a couple and just pack them away for emergency. I struggled to use a computer for one night without speakers, it was torture lol
amazing.. same thing happened to me -- I got the z-5500's yesterday, I tried them out with no troubles for 10 mins, then rearranged everything in the room, plugged it in again, and tada - won't turn on! off to DSE now to grab a replacement fuse
Just to let everyone know, I've been looking for a replacement fuse and Dick Smith have now discontinued the M205 2A Slow Blow fuses :\ Middendorp's don't stock the slow blow fuses, so Jaycar is probably your best bet.
