In Remembrance

LCDR Henry E. Lang, USN (Ret.)

A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, respected Navy Nurse Corps officer, USU alumnus, and cherished mentor to countless colleagues and students, Henry passed away on November 21, 2025, near his home in Florida while training for an upcoming triathlon.

Henry was an integral part of the United States Navy first as an enlisted sailor and then as a Navy Nurse and CRNA until his retirement in March 2025. Henry graduated from the USU Graduate School of Nursing Nurse Anesthesia program in 2013. He was part of the GSN and RNA program faculty from September 2021 until his retirement. Henry's impact went far beyond the GSN and CRNA community. Outside of the GSN, Henry was certified as a Master Facilitator for the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) Patient Centered Communication Course, Relations in Health Care. Henry was passionate about this initiative and was still involved after his retirement in assisting the DHA on their journey to full adoption across the entire enterprise.

Henry dedicated himself to the art and science of anesthesia, earning the deep trust of surgeons, the gratitude of countless patients, and the admiration of generations of nurse anesthesia residents and colleagues. Known for his calm presence in the operating room and an uncommon gift for teaching complex concepts with clarity and kindness, he shaped the careers of hundreds of CRNAs and left an enduring mark on the profession he loved.

Henry's zeal for life, million-dollar smile, and unmistakable laugh will be missed.
