Live! At the Library to Feature Fashion and Jazz in JuneThe Library of Congress is saluting 250 years of America fashion during the month of June. Visitors are invited to test their knowledge of 250 years of American style during a special edition of "Who Knew?" trivia on June 4 – and dance the night away during a fashion-themed costume ball in the Great Hall on June 11. Guests are encouraged to arrive dressed in their favorite era or aesthetic, from powdered wigs and bustles to streetwear and high fashion. On June 25, a partnership with the Congressional Sneaker Caucus will explore sneaker culture and its place in the story of American fashion. Jazz anchors the second half of the month, with two events on June 18 that highlight the genre's legacy. Music scholar and author Karen Chilton returns to the Library as the 2026 Jazz Scholar to present her research on the Hazel Scott Collection, followed by a live performance from Stanley Clarke, the pioneering bassist and co-founder of the legendary jazz fusion group Return to Forever.
