Tennessee Chief Information Officer Kristin Darby sees the huge potential of agentic AI — from automating complex, cross‑system tasks to powering end‑to‑end workflows and improving digital services for residents. But she’s equally focused on adopting it responsibly. 

 

Just as with generative AI, the state isn’t getting swept up in the hype. Darby says Tennessee is taking a governance‑first approach, developing safeguards that prioritize citizen protection, security, workforce readiness and public trust.
