The Mailbag, as it is commonly called, is a weekly bulletin of information submitted by and for local public health in Minnesota. The Mailbag provides a coordinated, non-duplicative source of information for local public health professionals, including announcements, events, tools, resources, and jobs. This free service is designed with the following audiences in mind: SCHSAC members, CHS administrators, public health directors, local public health staff, MDH staff, and friends of local public health in Minnesota. This position leads communicable disease prevention and control efforts through disease surveillance, case investigation, tuberculosis case management, immunization program coordination, and community education. In addition, this position coordinates community-based substance use prevention initiatives by working with local partners to implement evidence-based strategies that promote healthy environments and reduce substance misuse. The Anoka County Public Health & Environmental Services mission is to improve health through education, prevention, service, regulation, and advocacy in Anoka County. The department has multiple immediate openings for a Public Health Nurse on the Family Home Visiting team. The Public Health Nurse helps reduce health risks at the population level through evidenced-based care and education and is responsible for addressing the health disparities within marginalized communities by focusing on the environmental, physical, and social determinants of health. Additionally, this role supports the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program within Anoka County. This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position. Smoke-Free Housing Consultant, Dakota County - closes 7/31

Dakota County Public Health (DCPH) seeks a qualified consultant to provide smoke-free multi-unit housing technical assistance in Dakota County from November 2026 to October 2027. The consultant will educate individuals living or working in multi-unit housing about the risks of secondhand tobacco/cannabis smoke and the importance of comprehensive smoke-free policies; assist properties in adopting, updating, and enforcing smoke-free policies; provide smoke-free signage to properties; and respond to requests from Dakota County property managers/owners and residents.
