The Minnesota Community Health Worker Alliance invites proposals for the 2026 Rural Community Health Worker Conference to be held October 8th and 9th in Worthington, Minnesota. The theme for this year’s conference is "Hands On, Hearts In: Practicing the Skills That Power Rural CHW Work". This fully in-person conference will have approximately three Plenaries (1 hour), twelve breakout sessions (approximately 45 minutes) and up to 20 poster presentations. Apply now through June 30th to present at this conference that will bring together CHWs, CHW Certificate students, CHRs, Promatoras, CHW employers, public health professionals, heath providers, policy makers, payers, academic and training partners. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is recruiting grant reviewers for the Grant to Prevent Sleep-Related Infant Deaths in Minnesota’s American Indian and Black/African American Populations. Eligibility: -Individuals or organizations in Minnesota. -Staff from MDH and other state agencies with subject matter or grant management expertise. -Individuals from organizations that represent a broad range of professionals with experience in program planning and project management. -Individuals who have provided or currently provide services to families with infants under one year of age. Reviewers are required to identify any conflicts of interest. The number of reviewers selected is contingent on the number of applications received. Expectations of reviewers: -Attend a one-hour virtual reviewer orientation session in June. -Review and score assigned applications in the Foundant grants management system. -Attend one 3-hour virtual community review team meeting in June. CPSTs play an important role in preventing injuries by helping families through education & hands-on support. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive national certification. The course provides a strong foundation, but becoming confident and well-versed as a CPST takes ongoing practice and experience. Organizations in Minnesota are invited to apply for a $25,000 opportunity to strengthen community and clinical linkages (CCLs) for type 2 diabetes prevention and management. This year long project, led by Mathematica in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, will support programs serving African American, American Indian, and rural communities. Selected organizations will implement an enhancement or strategy to improve how CCLs can improve health by addressing health-related social needs like access to healthcare, healthy foods, and transportation. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) seeks applications for the Grant to Prevent Sleep-Related Infant Deaths in Minnesota’s American Indian and Black/African American Populations. The purpose of the grant is to fund one organization to create, manage, and support Community Action Teams to implement culturally appropriate, data driven solutions to reduce sudden unexpected infant deaths in Minnesota’s American Indian and Black/African American populations. Funding is currently available for $134,000 from July 15, 2026, to September 29, 2027. Completed applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22. MDH will host an RFP information session from noon - 1 p.m. on Monday, April 27. All prospective applicants are encouraged to attend the session to learn about the RFP and application process. Vaccinations in Pregnancy, Childhood, and Native Communities This session will focus on the critical role vaccines have during pregnancy and early childhood in preventing serious illness and protecting long-term health. The MNPQC Perinatal Education ECHO Series is a free, virtual learning opportunity designed for those passionate about improving care for perinatal health conditions. This session will focus on Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) and the recent release of the Minnesota MMRC Report from 2017-2021. Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) are considered the gold standard for maternal mortality surveillance because they use a multidisciplinary review process, draw on multiple data sources, and assess pregnancy-relatedness, preventability, and contributing factors. This presentation summarizes findings from Minnesota’s Maternal Mortality Review Committee Five-Year Report (2017–2021). It focuses on the top three causes of pregnancy-related deaths and highlights strategies to reduce preventable maternal deaths.

24-Hour Emergency Response Operations – $575 8am - 4pm This course consists of three days of lectures, discussions, classroom demonstrations, small group exercises, and hands-on training. This Operations Level course is designed to provide training required by OSHA 1910.120 to respond to hazardous substance releases with the purpose of protecting persons, property, and the environment from the effects of the release and to contain the release. Emphasis will be placed on responding in a defensive manner without actually trying to stop the release. Topics include: Relevant state and federal regulations, health hazard recognition, hazard and risk assessment, respiratory protection, selection and use of personal protective equipment, decontamination, control and containment of spills, emergency response plans, termination procedures, and the incident command system.

40-Hour Emergency Response Technician – $1,000 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday The 40-hour Emergency Response Technician course includes the 24-hour operations level training, plus 16 additional hours of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on experience.
