New APP "Discord" for NY state Rare bird alerts and General Birding Chats

NY state is joining many other states that have gone to the Discord app to organize NY state regional RBAs and Chat channels. Broome County is in the susquehanna-rba and susquehanna-chat channels. See attached for map of the NY regions. The Susquehanna Region encompasses Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Cortland, Otsego and Delaware Counties.  So this is more regional that our Broome RBA and Broome Birds Texting systems. The nice thing about this app is you can see all the RBAs and chats for the rest of the state including the Chemung Basin which has been historically tough to get real-time rare bird alerts from. See attached for a screenshot of what this looks like on your smartphone. At this time, I am going to keep BroomeRBA and Broome Birds Text messaging systems on the GroupMe app. But I strongly recommend folks transition over to the discord app. The susquehanna-rba will be for our rare birds and the susquehanna-chat channel is for less rare birds, first of year sightings, and other useful birding information like "warbler wave basset rd. upper lisle Broome Co.", "lots of waterfowl river road Endwell" etc.   I am the coordinator for the Susquehanna Region so if you have any questions or problems let me know. see link below for how to sign up and the rules.  Also it is free.  You can run this on your smartphone and computer.
