All,

Today was an awesome day of birds in Broome Co. First day of my annual 2 week vacation. My goal was about 70 species for Upper Lisle and maybe come close to 90 species for Broome. Well, Upper Lisle was loaded with a lot of diversity- shorebirds, and newly arrived songbirds primarily and a COMMON GALLINULE at Truck Pond. YELLOW WARBLERS, and GRAY CATBIRDS are now everywhere. OVENBIRDs have increased dramatically last few days too. WARBLING VIREOS, BALTIMORE ORIOLES and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAKS are now common.  Claybanks had PRAIRIE WARBLERS, NORTHERN PARULA, BLACK AND WHITE WARBLERS AND PALM with many YELLOW-RUMPED. The first of year LEAST SANDPIPERS arrived at Merrill creek overlook. I had at least a dozen. I ran into Alex Trifunovic and we birded by the reservoir.   We had a MARSH WREN by the dike and more PALMs and other neat birds including a distant singing WOOD THRUSH. Then the two of us ran into Jim Hoteling who found MAGNOLIA WARBLERS on Basset by the spruces (a breeding location). So I went back there and not only got a gorgeous MAGNOLIA but also got a CAPE MAY and NASHVILLE.  I missed CLIFF SWALLOW, COMMON TERN and RUFFED GROUSE that were seen collectively by Jim and Alex. So between the three of us 102 species of birds were found. What a great place!  A gem for our county.

My upper lisle list is here with some photos.... https://ebird.org/checklist/S109122939

Then I decided to try for 100 species since I was close and ended up with 109 species for the day.

I can't wait until tomorrow!

Good birding to all
