I got very lucky and found a Lawrence's Warbler in the woods by the tower on King Street today. Lawrence's Warbler is a rare hybrid "backcross" between the GOLDEN-WINGED and BLUE-WINGED WARBLER. This is a "lifer" for me but it actually doesn't count as a species since it is a hybrid. In any event, I don't recall anyone reporting one of these birds in all the years I have birded here. Otherwise, King Street was pretty quiet today. Lots of birds around but many were not singing. For example, I had silent BLACK-THROATED BLUES, BLACK-THROATED GREENS, and NORTHERN PARULAS in a flock of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. The chilly weather no doubt has something to do with this.
