My biggest surprise from King Street were at least 2 EVENING GROSBEAKS that flew over by the path up to the tower. There were at least 2 birds that I heard the burry strong distinct calls, there could have been more. The birds flew west. I also had one flyover PINE SISKIN and 1 flyover CHIMNEY SWIFT. King Street is starting to pick up with mainly new arrivals breeding birds. "True" migrants were not as common. I only had 3 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS and 6 RUBY CROWNED KINGLETS as an example which don't breed here. OVENBIRDS are beginning to populate the woods. I had 12, last year by the middle of May my count for this species was close to 30. 3 FOY BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLERS were present and 2 FOY BLUE-WINGED WARBLERS. Also had 3 BLACK-THROATED GREENS and 3 BLACKBURNIAN WARBLERS. There were 2 singing males and 1 female. Also had singles of AMERICAN REDSTART, NASHVILLE and PINE WARBLERS. YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were fairly scarce with only 3 and some (or all) of these may be breeders as well. I also had one ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK which was new for me. BLUE-HEADED VIREOS totaled 5 and I still haven't had YELLOW-THROATED VIREO yet. GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER also was not present. Both these species are due any day now.
