Hi all,
I hope you are doing well! I wanted to reintroduce the idea of meal kits to everyone. A meal kit is used at pantries to help push
out a bundle of items while also providing someone with a convenient meal idea while they are shopping the pantry.
The most important thing is that you are using recipes that make sense for your pantry and clients.
Some pantries do a meal kit of the week; others rotate monthly. A few pantries had been using bags and pre-bundling items with a recipe. Depending on your pantry, that may not be practical or possible. What has been done, with repeated success, is to highlight
a recipe, with an ingredient display, and allow the clients to shop for their items as they move through the pantry (see the included pictures).
A meal kit allows your pantry to highlight and push out slower moving items, or perishable goods.
If you have a variety of fresh produce, encourage clients to add in their favorite items.
As we are moving into prime produce season, please keep this concept in mind.
