Position:          2 Regional Outreach and Educational Staff (ROES) – Temporary

                        Positions funded through Sept. 30, 2015

                       

Agency:          Brooklyn Center for Independence of the Disabled  (BCID) is the leading organization serving and representing people with disabilities in Brooklyn. For over 56 years, BCID has empowered persons with disabilities, by improving the quality of their lives and fostering their integration into the mainstream of society.

 

Program:        Providing outreach and education regarding long term care options

 

Supervisor:    Program Manager (Concepts of Independence)

 

General Description:

 

The goal of the Regional Outreach and Educational Staff is to provide outreach and education to the stakeholders within the continuum of long term care service.

 

Qualifications:

 

BA/BS in human services, behavioral sciences or related field and 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

 

Duties:

·         Conduct outreach about the program at the organizational level throughout Brooklyn

·         Conduct outreach to key individuals and consumer groups throughout Brooklyn.

·         Maintain regular contact with both the Concepts of Independence Projector Coordinator and BCID’s Executive Director.

·         Maintain contact with the program’s peer counseling staff in Brooklyn.

·         Be responsive to specific requests for assistance, training and technical support made by consumers and relevant organizations.

·         The ROES will report directly to the Program Coordinator

 

Training:

 

Must complete the required ROES training prior to beginning outreach efforts.  ROES will attend at least the first of the two Peer Counseling training sessions.

 

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

·         Possess excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills

  • Individual must have time management skills to maintain individual/community outreaches, caseload, documentation and administrative requirements;
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to travel independently throughout Brooklyn
  • Must be computer literate on basic Microsoft Programs and Internet search use;
  • Respectful and comfortable with persons from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.
