Ladies!

First off, thank you Dara for your lovely note to us. I was JUST talking about you all last night to Skye. What a sweet little community, indeed, in those first precious years. Even just reading everyone's emails was such a comfort.
We bought an apartment in Carroll Gardens and moved in this past August, and I have to say that while I am happily entrenched in our lives and community here, a lot in the neighborhood has changed since we initially moved to Brooklyn ten years ago. The vibe is a bit more fancy, and less down to earth. Oh well, I shouldn't complain-I'm very lucky to live here. Anyway, just got home from Poppy's Holiday Concert at school. I cannot believe these kids are embarking on five years old! It was so surreal seeing her up on the stage in the auditorium. And our little one, Frankie, turned one a few months ago, and is just the sweetest light of my life. I'm sure that may change when she starts getting a bit closer to two😉!
I wish each one of you and your littles well, and I would like nothing more than the opportunity for us all to reconnect some day.

Warmest holiday wishes and Happiest Birthdays to Eve and Emmett!!

Love,
Kim

Thanks for starting this thread, Dara!  This group will always be very special to me.  In fact, just this week I was talking about the mommy group I joined when I was just 12 weeks pregnant, where we met at DeKalb market (which is now a Century 21, an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, and a Target!  Oh how downtown Brooklyn has changed!)

We just celebrated 2 years in our home in Windsor Terrace, and Maia is 1 month shy of 2.  Zoe has come out of her shell and is the center of all the boys' affection at pre-k.  I'm still off work one day a week, and unbelievably grateful to be able to spend that time with my amazing girls!

We're off to Dallas tomorrow for the holidays, then we will be in Florida for a short visit in January for my grandma's 99th birthday.  Trying to squeeze all the travel in before we need to purchase another seat on the plane :)

All my love to everyone for a happy and healthy new year!

(Btw, I'm totally game if we want to start talking reunion - with or without kids.  Will travel.)

So good to hear from you guys!  We've been in North Carolina a year now, which is nuts - we definitely miss NYC, but we also do like Durham a lot. It's also a crazy time to be here, given state politics...we're somewhat insulated in our liberal bubble of Durham, but it's just an odd transition from NYC. We just just bought a house here, so we're sticking around for the foreseeable future. It's an older home in a central neighborhood, so the house has some quirks, but we're thinking of them as part of the charm :) Eve started at school here in Sept, at a local public Montessori school - we got in on a lottery, which was lucky, because we really love it.  Liddy is 2.5 and definitely the more "spirited" of the two, as a definite euphemism. Crazy and funny, but not so easy-going!

If any of you guys are in the Carolinas, let us know! Durham is lots of fun, but we're also an easy enough drive from the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Ashville, etc!  And we're down for a reunion.

(Michelle - we're in Ft Worth through the 30th - funny you're in Dallas. We talked about taking the train there from Ft Worth, just as a fun activity. If we do, I can let you know. I know meeting up may not actually make sense or work out, but we can entertain the thought.)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Hi all! Sorry so late to respond to this. It's so great to hear about all the kids and new neighborhoods :)

Emmet just turned 5, which is completely nuts! We ended up keeping him in preschool another year... definitely the right decision for him. I was able to keep his services (after much advocating) at the elementary school in the mornings, so he does his OT/speech/sensory group there 2 x week, then I just drive him to preschool. Overall, he's doing really great and things are gradually getting much easier at home as he grows up. I suppose that's true for all of us :)  He continues to be outgoing and is starting a theater class next Tuesday. He loves to perform! He also loves soccer and has gotten quite good at it, which is great, because you all know he has energy to burn!!

Owen is 3 and SO different from his big brother, but they're inseparable (good and bad!). He's our little thinker and loves building things and "reading" his comics and telling stories.

Kieran "Kiwi" as we call him, will be 1 at the end of this month. Crazy! He is a happy little thing and just a joy to all of us. He's into everything now, and being the third child, I find him eating cat food etc. quite a bit.

Still loving Irvington and I'm extremely impressed with Emm's therapists at the elementary school. The boys are happy. I'm hoping to get a 'wee' more balance this year with time to myself and time with them. It will be the first year, in six, I haven't been pregnant and/or had a newborn. I feel great about this :)

Love to all of you and ESPECIALLY Gabi who is due to pop at any time. Happy New Year, you wonderful Mamas!

Kathy xoxo

So great to hear from everyone and get these updates -- I sure miss you all!

We've been back in my hometown of South Windsor, CT for a little over two years now -- bought a house right after Olive was born.  We are loving it here in our little neighborhood.  A lot of high school friends have since moved back with kiddos, so it has been fun.  I'm working in the same town, which can be interesting at times, but works out really well for us.

Maxwell is turning 5 in March and will be off to Kindergarten next year - eeek.  He's in a full-day preschool/daycare this year which is a perfect match for him -- lots of kids and lots of activity.  Olive is 2.5 and doing great at an in-home daycare we love -- feels like home.  Her spunky personality sure has blossomed since she turned two!

Let's definitely talk reunion -- we'd love to come down and see everyone!

Megan

Hi Everyone!

We are still in NYC- for now!  We obviously love being in the city but as we all know, it’s not always easy!  We are here for a few more years and then who knows what’s on the agenda.

Lincoln will be 5 in Feb and is in full day preschool which he loves.  He’s also into soccer, karate and dirt biking.
Welles is 2 and as passionate as ever.  We do a lot of time outs. Ha!  He is totally into his older brother and dinosaurs.  He’s at nursery 3 half days a week so I have a little time for yoga and grocery shopping solo.  Woohoo!

Glad to hear everyone is well.  Love getting the updates!  Congrats Gabi!

Hey Everyone!

So good to catch up and hear what you’ve all been up to!  I don’t know if I even knew that Gabi was preg with #3??  Was that announced already?

Anyway - we are doing ok over here.  Bad news is… we just found out that Wylie has Celiac.  Kind of came out of nowhere and just found out this week.  He didn’t gain weight from his 15 month to 18 month checkup and his poops have been kind of weird and his belly is big and round like a little buddha (which I thought was kind of cute - but turns out it’s not good).  Anyway - we are scheduling an endoscopy for next week to find out the severity of situation but it looks like we are entering into the world of Gluten Free.  This of course is sad for us as we are gluttonous carbaholics.  But it is what it is.  Meanwhile, Wylie is a super happy and awesome dude.  He’s never cranky and he’s a great sleeper and he’s adorable and he loves his big bro (and big bro loves him).  They are so cute.  And so very different!!

Theo is turning 5 in March.  He’s been doing great.  He’s still got lots of energy and keeps me on my toes - but he’s awesome.  I’m going to tour the public kindergarten next week.  His teacher told me about this private kindergarten that is tiny and more play-based.  She thought it might be good for him as he’s a bit of a dreamer - (like his daddy).  I looked at it and it seems pretty cool - but I haven’t seen the public school yet.  We’ll see…  I also take him to OT once a week - he’s got some sensory stuff (mild) and we’re working on some fine motor/gross motor stuff.  He’s made HUGE improvements.  When we started he was scared of everything at the playground… now he’s a speed demon on his scooter and he slides down the pole at the playground and he jumps off all high things, etc.  He’s a bit of a rebel/daredevil.

We are totally loving Maplewood.  It’s a great little town and it’s so easy to get to the city still (not that I do it that often but I’m sure I will as the kids get older).  Adam has just changed his deal at work and is mostly working from home now, which is awesome!   I’ve been doing great… started meditating almost a year ago and do it everyday and also yoga at least twice a week now.  Definitely has helped me to be more even/calm/focused - was feeling none of those things as a stay at home mom!!!  Overall feeling really happy and content.  Definitely done with 2 kids… Adam might go get the surgery soon to make it official. ;)

Would love to see all of you.  A reunion would be fantastic!!

sending much love to you all!!

xoxo

Hi mamas!!!

I can't believe it's been this long since we've all caught up. I miss the group! I should have sent out an email to everyone about being pregnant but the time has just flown by! I'm due the 20th, so yes, about to pop! It's been an adventure - sick for the first 20 weeks but then much better since then. Luckily the baby is measuring smaller than Reid (umm...that's not too hard) so I'm hopeful that everything goes a little smoother. We haven't found out if it's a boy or girl but I will let everyone know bris/naming details in case you can come! That would be a fantastic bonus for me :). Thank you Kathy and everyone for the love :). It makes me feel so supported!!

It's been crazy chasing Reid around (he's 21 months and a ball of pure energy). He's a total chatterbox, and I forgot how adorable this age is, albeit totally exhausting! Maddie's birthday is in a few weeks and she and Reid are very cute buddies. She's pretty excited about the baby (fingers crossed she's happy when it arrives!), and I'm now in total denial that there will be three tiny humans running around here!  Kathy / I need bootcamp immediately! :)

It's so nice to hear what everyone is up to. I got a bit sad when we were sending out our holiday cards and I realized how few current addresses I have for everyone.

Nell - hang in there on the celiac stuff. Thank goodness it's diagnosed so it can be managed. Wylie sounds like an adorable little trooper!!

I would love to see everyone. We've only been back to Brooklyn a couple of times since we moved to the burbs but would be very happy to either meet there or at someone's house outside the city. Should we try for something in a couple of months to give people a chance to plan and the weather a chance to warm up? For those of you outside the tristate area, do you have any trips here planned that we could work with?

It's been so nice to hear from everyone. Thank you Dara for starting this! A genuinely heartwarming way to start the new year.

With lots of love,
Gabi (who at 38 weeks pregnant has figured out that a hilarious problem being preggers in the burbs is trying to get into your car when someone parks too close!) ;)

Reading updates about everyone is such fun! Congrats Gabi! I can not believe its time for kindergarten next year. Everett turns 5 in a month and is full of energy. He is in a play-based outdoor preschool so I imagine next year will be quite the transition :) He enjoys everything bugs, dirt and science. We are actually starting OT next week to give him some extra sensory input- he is super high energy. Nice to hear Nell & Kathy have had such great experiences with therapy.
We continue to love living up in MA. Thatcher is 2 and follows his brother everywhere and mimics EVERYTHING he does. We are still up in the air with another baby so just seeing what happens.

We have sweet memories of our time in brooklyn and all of you.

Kristin
