For those interested this is information about a walk this Saturday to stop the atlantic yards project.

I have to say that I was running in that area last night and it certainly is a dark isolated area with very little access from atlantic ave to pacific st..  I can't imagine that an arena would make it better (just look at the Yankee Stadium area at night).

Walkathon 4:
A Candlelight Walk to Shine Light on the Abuses of the Atlantic Yards Project

Raise Funds for the Legal Fight Against the Stalled Project

For this year's Walkathon, which depends upon your active participation and sponsor solicitation, we are doing something new. The walk will take place in the twilight hours and the walkers will carry candles to shine a light on the numerous abuses of Ratner's Atlantic Yards plan.

If you have not registered for the Walkathon on Saturday, October 18th, you can do so by clicking the "Register Here" button above. You can also form a team to compete against others to see who can raise the most contributions to the legal fight.

And if you have already registered, remember to invite your friends, family and co-workers to sponsor you -- just click the "Email Friends" in the left hand column.

Here are the details...

The walk will feature hundreds of walkers and start in front of Bob Law's Seafood Cafe (637 Vanderbilt Ave -- between St. Marks and Prospect Place) and finish with a community party [including free food and live music!] at the Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue at Union Street).

The walk route extends about 1.25 miles.
