Glauber Rocha was an influential Brazilian filmmaker---Matilde from our group says this film is a great film-but might be difficult to "get" at first.
 I don't know if there are English subtitles---It's FREE----so isso VC decide     Garioca

Sumário:

Relato ficcional das aventuras do pistoleiro de aluguel Antonio das Mortes. O filme, que narra a vida real nos últimos dias de banditismo rural no Nordeste brasileiro, segue Antonio e como ele testemunha a descida do trabalhador rural comum Manuel para uma vida de crime, juntando-se à gangue de seu inimigo jurado, Corisco, o Diabo Loiro, e fazendo parte do evento que ficaria conhecido mais tarde como o Massacre da Pedra Bonita. 
Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol ganhou vários prêmios importantes, entre eles, Grande Prêmio no Festival do Cinema Livre, 1964 – IT; Prêmio Crítica Mexicana no Festival de Acapulco, 1964 – ME; Prêmio Náiade de Ouro no Festival de Porreta Terme, 1964 – IT; Prêmio Saci, 1965, SP, de Melhor ator coadjuvante para Maurício do Valle e Grande Prêmio Latino-Americano no Festival de Mar Del Plata, 1966 – AR.


02/23: Movies on Thursdays: Black God, White Devil, film by Glauber Rocha

Summary:

Fictionalized account of the adventures of hired gunman Antonio das Mortes, showing the real life during the last days of rural banditism in the Northeast of Brazil. The film follows Antonio as he witnesses the descent of common rural worker Manuel into a life of crime, joining the gang of Antonio's sworn enemy, Corisco, the Blond Devil, and taking part in the event that later would be called the Pedra Bonita Massacre.
Black God, White Devil  won various awards, among them the Grand Prix at the Festival of Free Cinema, 1964 - IT; Critics Prize at the Festival de Acapulco Mexicana, 1964 - ME, Naiad Gold Award at the Festival of Porretta Terme, 1964 - IT, Saci Award, 1965, SP, Best supporting Actor for Mauricio do ValleGrande Prize in Latin American Festival of Mar del Plata, 1966 - AR.
