Hey all,

To my knowledge, we're all gonna have crazy fun tomorrow with Eric's new game. Is anyone unable to attend?

Eric, is there any material we can read up on to prepare?

Yes there is material but I don't have nonmobile internet so won't b able to send until tomorrow. Max , please bring the core 2nd edition stuff (players rulebook , monster manual , dm guide) & vecna stuff. For everyone else , I'll send you guys the list of characters you can choose from as well as about 5pages of backstory to read. This is necessary to understanding the plot , so if you don't read beforehand you'll have to do it while we're meeting which takes time.

Everyone, please read the document attached.

There's 2 pages to read (the story of Vecna)

Then, there are 8 characters to choose from. Think of the ones you like best and call dibs over email. Goran may have a preference toward Otto. See y'all tonight!

If you don't get the chance to read tonight, you may want to arrive early. I'll be there from 7 pm, possibly earlier depending on work and shopping.

I think maybe we can do lasagna tonight? I figure if we use my apartment I might as well do some work, too.

I could make Kielbasa instead, too.

Err, that was meant to say "if you don't get a chance to read BY tonight"

Come early and read.

Calling dibs on Nystul, and I have the vecna modules for you Eric. I gave you most of the core rulebooks some time ago, but I still have a 3rd edition DM guide and monster manual you can use if you need more.

I can also run my recap and do a brief q&a in ~10 minutes to get everyone on the same page about my campaign you completed, as well as the treasure stashed.

See y'all tonight!

All right! Who's in for tomorrow?

Attached is the list of characters to choose from. There won't be any required reading, but I do want to explain a few key differences in 2nd edition and get a start on characters.

Initiative is rolled with a d10. Lower is better. There are no modifiers except situational ones.

Modifiers for stats (strength, dexterity, etc) are unique and don't follow a steady pattern. I’ll bring in a table so you can all write yours down.

You can make your own spells if you want to. I'm pretty sure you can do this in every edition, but since you're choosing pre-generated characters, it would be fun if you find ways to make them a bit more your own.

Multi-class levels are divided equally among classes. Experience is distributed the same way. There are some dual-class characters to choose from, but with that, you would just level up the wizard side.

As for levels, there are level caps for non-humans. I'll bring in a table so you can see them all, but just remember that some classes may max out at level 14, though after that, you can just start taking levels in other classes.

We'll want a balanced group and we'll have to have at least one mage in the group. Preferably, the group will have a mage, healer, thief, and fighter

When we meet, we'll want to spend a bit of time filling in the blanks on the attached sheet. This will be your character sheet since the document where you choose your characters doesn't have all the necessary information. I don't expect you to be able to fill in all the modifiers and spells, but please put in your name, class, stats, and other information that's given on the sheets.

Let me know if you guys have any questions and I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

Hey Eric, when you send out emails, could you start new threads with the new session's date on it? You just have to put brooklyn...@googlegroups.com in the to line and it goes to everyone.

Based on what others have chosen, I would go in for the wizard Marial or the illusionist gnome Lord Imiric von Suss-Varren. John, or anyone with second thoughts, let me know what you end up with and I'll try to adapt to your choice if necessary.

Screw the cold, I'm not missing this week. I'll take a look at the characters a little later, once things calm down at work. (First day back after a week off, so it's a little hectic; you know how it goes.)

Sure, I'll do that for the future with new threads.

The Illusionist is a specialized wizard and there are a lot of bonuses and restrictions, but we can go over those tomorrow.

I'ma stick with Yars Blud-Sigul, and I'm definitely in for tomorrow, do you have printouts or do I need to print the additional sheets?

Great choices so far! There's still a thief and paladin available, though the party is looking pretty balanced so far.

All right!

We have:
Allentar Grassfield (thief) - John
Cymeria of Celadon (fighter/mage) - Jenny
Imric/Marial (which one?) - Josh
Johanna (Priestess) - Goran
Yars Blud-Sigul (fighter) - Max

See y'all tonight! Max, let me know if you can print character sheets and that would be appreciated. I have last of us with me.

I'm gonna get some ramen and nice instant dishes from this Japanese store nearby, and prepare some of that. I can feed anyone in need of feeding, but sounds like "fend for yourself" is the line for tonight.

Also, I'll make gyoza.
