Dear neighbors,

I'd like to invite you to an event hosted by the nonprofit I co-founded, Croatan Institute, which is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a community double feature of two short films, plus a panel on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30pm. Climate Action Brookline (CAB) is co-sponsoring these short film screenings and an expert panel so that we can open the event up to all our neighbors and Brookline community!

You are invited to a special film event on December 4th at the Coolidge Corner Theater!

We are thrilled to premiere a new short film produced by my team at Croatan Institute titled Soil Wealth: Investing in Regenerative Agriculture. We'll also be screening the new documentary Digging In produced by Sustainable Agriculture & Food System Funders (SAFSF), focused on the US agricultural system and who controls our food and farmers. (Regenerative agriculture represents a variety of sustainable farming practices that serve as a nature-based climate solution that helps absorb carbon from the atmosphere and build resilience in farms and the food system in the face of a changing climate.) Following the screenings, stay for an expert panel on the films and on the role Croatan Institute has played in advancing the role of finance to create change over the past decade.

Come to learn about where our food comes from, how sustainable and regenerative agriculture can create climate resilient and equitable communities, and how to invest in soil health and community wealth.

Come to gather, to organize, and to channel our collective power. We know and feel that a better world is possible when we are with community. That’s why we’re hosting two short film screenings and a panel between – so we can share an evening together to help us remember that we, together with our neighbors, prioritize each other, our climate, and the health of our communities and ecosystems.

Deeply interested in leveraging finance to support equitable, climate resilient food, farm and forestry practices? For those who are really excited about the work of Croatan Institute, we're hosting a special reception before the films starting at 6pm with partners and allies on our work around investing for social equity and ecological resilience, racial equity, and climate justice. In a moment where political action may feel a little bit daunting, shifting capital into climate and equity solutions is a concrete way that will grow momentum and build the case on the benefits that come from having a more just and equitable food system.
