The Town Clerk’s office is looking for poll workers for the September 6, 2022 State Primary Election. Election Day is 33 days away, and the Town Clerk’s office is 50 poll workers short of its recruitment goal.
Will you join us on Election Day to help administer our election?
Poll workers are an indispensable part of our elections. Poll workers staff polling locations on Election Day, doing a number of different important tasks. Poll workers check in voters, open and process vote by mail ballots, and ensure an accurate count at the end of the night.
Below are details on working as a poll worker:
· Any registered voter in Massachusetts can work as a poll worker. Individuals age 16-18 can also work as a poll worker.
· Elected Officials can work as a poll worker as long as they are not on the ballot in the precinct where they work.
· Poll worker shifts are from 6:00 A.M. until the polls close at 8:00 P.M. on Election Day, and poll workers stay to count votes after the polls close until the count is complete.
· Poll workers receive training prior to Election Day. Training is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged. Poll workers are compensated for attending a training.
· Poll workers are paid a stipend for working on Election Day. Poll workers are also provided with lunch from Michael’s Deli on Election Day.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in working as a poll worker on September 6, please contact the Town Clerk’s office by phone at (617) 730-2010, or by email at town...@brooklinema.gov.
Please share this information with your networks to help us ensure we reach our goal of poll worker recruitment.
