Besides Bukhari, Sahih Muslim is considered to be the most authentic book of Hadith. Between Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, there are around 2000 Hadith which are common in both the collection and any hadith found in both the books is considered to be Saheehayn.
Imam Muslim was born in Naysabur (Nishapur, that is present day Iran) in Hijri 206. But He was attributed to the Kushayri Arab Tribe. He had travelled the entire Arab Peninsula before in quest of knowledge before he settled in Nishapur. At his very early age started seeking knowledge similar to his shaykh (teacher) Imam Bukhari.
Abu Isa Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzaimā and Ad Dhahābi were his three extremely popular students. He stood by Imam Bukhari, during the infamous political controversy that met Imam Bukhari during his visit in Nishapur during his last years of life. When Yahya ibn Yahya al-Nishaburi al-Tamimi, announced in his gathering, that who ever considered Imam Bukhari to be his teacher should get up and leave his gathering, Imam Muslim got up and left the gathering thus showing his solidarity with his Ustaad, the great Muhaddith Imam Bukhari. When Imam Bukhari left the city, Imam Muslim was the only person present for farewell.
Both of these Muhadditheen put a close observation over the isnaad to maintain its Authenticity from any false propagations and weaknesses.
Imam Muslim is regarded as one of Hadith's most illustrious and eminent authorities. He is a leading scholar and memorizer of the narrations and Hadiths of the Prophet (S.A.W.). Along with Imam Bukhari, his Hadith collection Sahih Muslim Hadith is considered one of the two most authentic Hadith books both online and offline.
Imam Muslim began his scientific journeys at an early age, learning Hadith from scholars in his homeland of Nishapur. Imam Muslim carefully collected 300,000 hadith and maintained only 4000 after a careful investigation, the legitimacy of which was fully established. He prefixed a very illuminating introduction to his compilation, in which he listed some of the principles he had followed in collecting his material.
He resided in Nishapur, where he met Imam Bukhari for the first time. Imam Muslim remained attached to him until the end of his life after seeing his immense knowledge and profound experience in the Prophet's Ahadith. He also attended the lectures of Muhammad bin Yahya AdhDhuhli, another Hadith scholar.
In terms of precision and validity, Imam Muslim's Sahih Muslim hadees is second only to Sahih Bukhari. Any practice that is approved by both Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim is regarded as "agreed upon," and these "agreed upon" traditions are the most trustworthy and genuine.

Imam Muslim was a fifty-five-year-old imam. He spent the majority of his time studying Hadith, compiling it, teaching it, and distributing it. He was still fully immersed in this single goal, and nothing could divert his focus away from this noble goal. He died in 261/875 and was buried in Nishapur's suburbs.
