Designed by the performance-minded artisans at Mercedes-AMG, the GLE's muscular lines are further defined by a deep front apron with larger, louvered outer grilles, a silver chrome insert in the sculpted rear bumper, and color-keyed fender flares and side sills. The wide grille presents a field of tiny Mercedes-Benz Stars, with a single crossbar anchoring the iconic central Star.
A fresh take on the iconic AMG twin 5-spoke wheel design features an aerodynamically inspired perimeter with a thin machine-finished edge encircling the 20-inch wheel and outlining each spoke. They're all set off by grey-painted inlays. All-season 275/50R20 tires are fitted. A fully functional spare tire is standard as well
Lower-aspect-ratio tires and accompanying wheels may provide substantially increased treadwear, increased tire noise and reduced ride comfort. Serious wheel and tire damage may occur if the vehicle is operated on rough or damaged road surfaces or upon encountering road debris or obstacles. These tires are not designed for use on snow and ice. Winter tires mounted on appropriately sized and approved wheels are recommended for driving in those conditions.
Take your GLE to the dark side with the jet-black accents of the Night Package. A deep Gloss Black finish is applied to the front splitter, grille crossbar trim, side mirrors, side window surrounds, roof rails, and rear bumper insert.
The inlays of the iconic 20-inch AMG wheels are painted Gloss Black, setting off the shimmering surfaces and providing an ideal complement to the high-contrast trim of the Night Package. All-season 275/50R20 tires are fitted. A fully functional spare tire is also provided.
Deeply contoured sport front seats, brushed-metal pedals with rubber studs, and a thick, flat-bottom sport steering wheel clearly convey the serious driving attitude of the GLE, one of few sport utility vehicles that earns the "sport" in its name.
Larger perforated side grips and a racing-inspired flat-bottom design bring out the enthusiast in any driver. The contoured grip areas invite your hands into position to enjoy the galvanized shift paddles. A twin-spoke design places more responsive capacitive Touch Control Buttons on each of the horizontal spokes for more intuitive access by feel alone. Heating of the wheel's hand-stitched Nappa leather rim is available.
The 3rd-row seating provides room for two additional to ride in the GLE. Suitable for average-sized adults but ideal for children, the seatbacks can be folded down in a 50/50 split to enhance the versatility of the cargo area.
To enhance 3rd-row access and 2nd-row comfort, the outboard 2nd-row seats offer power recline, fore-aft adjustment and head-restraint height. With the touch of a button near each rear side door, an EASY-ENTRY feature can electrically slide the seats forward and even fold the seatback to ease 3rd-row entry and exit. And with the third row stowed, sliding the second row forward offers increased cargo space while still seating passengers.
Heating elements beneath the Nappa leather trim of the steering wheel rapidly take the chill out of your hands on a cold morning. After a few minutes, the heating level is automatically reduced to maintain lasting comfort.
Heated and ventilated seats are a luxury you'll soon consider a necessity. Three levels of heating and cooling ventilation are offered. By gently circulating air through perforations in the seat and backrest, the seats help keep you cooler and your clothes drier during warmer months. On cold or damp days, using both the ventilation and heating features together can circulate the seat heating more quickly, to help keep you warm and dry.
One of the most respected makers of handcrafted high-end home audio, Germany's Burmester has developed a surround-sound system specifically for the GLE. Thirteen high-quality speakers including twin FrontBass subwoofers and a 590-watt 9-channel digital amplifier can fill the cabin with pure digital surround sound while seamlessly compensating for ambient noise. Exquisitely detailed metal speaker grilles are as rewarding to the eyes as the system's output is to the most discerning ears.
If you're serious about music, you'll enjoy virtually endless play from numerous online music services seamlessly integrated into your Mercedes-Benz via subscription. Services such as Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL and Amazon Music can be accessed via the intuitive MBUX voice assistant, along with the music on your linked smartphone or other mobile device. The technology allows passengers to enjoy audio created using Dolby Atmos with sensations of depth, clarity and spatial definition that more closely match the artist's original vision in the studio.
Pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, active LED headlamps can generate light that's perceived much like natural daylight. Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist continuously adjust the beam pattern of the 84 LEDs in each headlamp to help maximize the illumination of corners and straightaways, without creating glare for other drivers. An Ultra Wide Highbeam feature is designed to better illuminate the road and the environment along either side.
Adaptive Highbeam Assist is not a substitute for active driving involvement. Driver is responsible for adjusting the vehicle's lighting to prevailing light, visibility, traffic and other conditions, and for adhering to local driving laws.
Pneumatically adjustable lumbar and side supports offer custom-tailored comfort. Eight massage programs can soothe and rejuvenate your back and shoulders, including two spa-like "hot stone" massages, plus an "active workout" program to help strengthen your back and leg muscles.
An added enhancement to the available heated front seats, this rapid-warming feature quickly replaces the chill of a cold day or evening with nearly instant heating of the seat. The feature automatically switches to the normal heating settings as soon as the desired temperature is reached.
The Air Balance system teams activated charcoal filtration with an ionizer that uses an electrical charge to create the same fresh-air sensation you experience after a summer storm. Airborne impurities and odors are virtually eliminated from the cabin to provide air quality that's more enjoyable and healthier, especially for those with asthma or allergies.
Part of the Air Balance system, a fragrance atomizer offers an extra dimension of cabin ambience. Featuring an elegant, LED-backlit vial in the glovebox and its own ductwork, any of several distinctive yet subtle aromas is gently atomized into the cabin at periodic intervals, yet the scent won't linger on cabin surfaces or clothing. The vial is easily replaced when you'd like to change scents.
