I kept getting a prompt that 'Youcam 6 has stopped working'. So after following all the directions of uninstalling and reinstalling, I found that the problem isn't the Youcam software, but instead the actual hardware.
When opening the properties for the HP Truevision HD, it displayed device error code 45. I looked online for HP forums related to this issue, and it gave me pretty much the same solution that correcting the Youcam software did - uninstall, scan for new hardware, it should automatically reinstall the hardware and subsequent drivers.
My HP Truevision HD was under the heading of 'Camera' in the device manager, and was the only item in that drop down menu. So naturally, after uninstalling it, that heading disappeared. The instructions said that after scanning for new hardware it would come back. SO HERE'S THE ISSUE. It's gone. Vanished. I can't find it anywhere, not in imaging devices, or in the drop down that Youcam is found. The 'Camera' menu is no more.
Please, please help. I've never been able to get this laptop's camera to work, even fresh out of the box. I didn't worry about it because I never used it, but have a job opportunity that will require it. Thanks in advance!!

So my webcam recently stopped working, I'm guessing after an update, as it was functioning not too long ago but, I always had it covered up unless I was using it which was very rarely. I've tried every method given on this topic I've come across but to no avail. It wasn't actually showing up in the device manager at first & then I discovered it was hidden for some reason, I tried to update the driver but it said it was up-to-date, then I tried uninstalling it(as there was no disable option) & rebooting it, as I was informed that this would make the com recognise the webcam wasn't operating & reinstall it again, but now it's not even hidden & I can't find the driver for it anywhere. I have a HP Notebook 14 - bs which has a HP TrueVision HD camera integrated above the screen. The camera isn't recognised in the settings section & it gives this error code which I've tried to resolve but the solution doesn't work for me. There's no updates I've missed neither. I've tried to find the drivers on this site for my model but they're not anywhere to be seen.... any advice would be great guys
Hey Erico, thanks for the reply but I still didn't have any joy following the solution given on that thread, well the link for the windows 10 solution. They recommended installing youcam & then using that to rediscover the webcam but when I installed it it had the same error message as if there's no cam installed on my laptop. If I can just get the official driver for this integrated webcam I'm sure it would work but I can't find it anywhere, do you have any ideas where I can locate it?
Hey, so there's nothing to see in the device manager anymore. I've heard that there's a possibility it could have disconnected but I imagine that's quite unlikely. As far as I've seen there's been no update to the integrated webcam for a while & I don't know exactly when it stopped working... There have been many windows updates recently but I haven't a clue which could've disabled the cam. Why is it not possible to just reinstall the driver for it? Surely that'd be the easiest solution
I just ran the test for my Spectre x360-13-ap00690nd ultrabook. It provided a pass ID result result and webcam serial number. The test is saved in the test logs that can be accessed in the main menu of the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility menu.
Try to open Windows Camera- and I can watch device manager freak out and flash camera, no-camera, camera, no-camera... over and over. If I disable the device, then the app stops sending looping error messages and says no-camera. (yeah I know I disabled it, but the loop tells me this is a DRIVER specific issue.)
I have visited every thread on this board, visited every Microsoft thread, talked to YouCam, AND to HP, I was told to factory reset my laptop, but after factory reset 4 times via HP USB restore didnt work. I don't want to send in my laptop, this is a driver issue, that is abundantly clear.

After reviewing the post, I have sent you a link of all the HP Envy 1t notebooks for downloading the required driver. Please select the correct model# of the computer from this link and go to the HP driver page and download the drivers.

Hi @DavidSMP,
thank you for the provided link, however I couldn't find a driver there for the HP webcam. My model of the notebook is HP ENVY t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC(ENERGY STAR).
I've already tried reinstalling the Cyberlink webcam software, but unfortunatelly it didn't help me. Could you please provide me with a link of the webcam driver?
I thank you greatly for your quick response. As I was away on my weekend, I could not reply right away. I reviewed your post. It looks like there is more to it than meets the eye. I will send you a link that will help you a great deal if the webcam issue is not hardware related. I hope that fixes the issue. That is the best compatible driver that I could find. Please check these links out.
I genuinely hope this helps and your webcam issue gets fixed without hassles. Please try to perform a complete system recovery and install the drivers from the link that I sent earlier. Please perform a bios update also if it has not been done yet. If the webcam keeps disconnecting or stops working intermittently, then it may be a hardware issue with the webcam. If none of these troubleshooting steps fix the issue, then please contact HP phone support by visiting to get the unit serviced. We definitely value your relationship with HP and greatly appreciate your business with HP. It is paramount that your issues are addressed.
I'm also in need of hp truevision hd webcam driver reinstallation being my camera starts to work the first time; but quickly is not responding after the second and successive tries.
Hello everybody, I'm looking for HP TrueVision Driver for an HP Pavilion dv6 6169sl laptop. I need to reinstall the driver, cause at the moment i don't have it in my pc. I've already try to look into the Hp site, but i didn't find anything about photo/video driver.
I've tried all options I could in order to find my web camera listed. Initially I tried to "revive" the camera going through the HP Troubleshooter. I could not find the drivers for this camera at the HP site. Not listed in the Device Manager (even under "Hidden Devices"). "Unknown Device" shows under "Other Devices" but cannot find a driver for it either. I have also done several resets to no avail... Sites I found on Internet dealing with this error # did not help.
