I can't even believe an artist this innovative, this bold, and this
beautiful actually exists. Janelle Monae has to be an android because
otherwise she just seems to good to be true. This new EP is like nothing
I've ever heard and it gives me great pleasure to present it to you, A DAY
EARLY!

Check that...awesome footage from her LA showcase (courtesy of okayplayer),
and a great article on Janelle from her recent urb cover story at
imeem.com/janellemonae

Thieves in the Night is my all time favorite hip hop song. Hands down.
Signed, sealed, delivered. I heard that song in the 7th grade, yes I'm
young. But even then I knew there was something incredibly timeless and
transcendent about that song. So I geeked the fuck out when 88 told me the
whole story....

Many of you already showed a lot of support for this next piece, but for
those who haven't heard I wanted to hip ya'll to something I worked my ass
off on, shit still hurts. OkayPlayer and I (meem) teamed up to present a
look at Philly through the eyes of it's artists and architects. Peep
imeem.com/keystothecity for an interview with THE ROOTS, all The Roots
Family Picnic webisodes, an EXCLUSIVE 60 song playlist created by ?uestlove
of all his favorite Philly artists, and an essay by one, HEZEKIAH. Let me
know what you think and stay tuned for LA, B-More and Chicago.

The Brothers Thornton have just put out the first proper Re-Up Gang record
and it's hot as a stove (some pun intended). In honor of that landmark (land
grab) Eskay and I (meem) launched the Remix the Re-Up Contest. You aspiring
producers and beat junkies can grab acapellas from the album and go all GREY
ALBUM til' your blue in the face. Peep that here

Steady geeking on beats,
Will

I've never heard her music. Maybe I'll check her out.

Just finished listening to her stuff on imeem.
Not my cup of tea.
She is definitely different.

We'll see what happens on her next album.
Right now, it looks as if she has a little buzz in ATL.
