i have the titan expansion that dosent work so i only play the original i start the game, video plays, then i get the failure i ttied your shortcut and it almost worked but got the error still happend
I need to do some additional testing, one laptop the fix works, one laptop Age of Mythology works provided you dont install the update. Once i have some work out the way i will look into this more. Thanks for the confirmation that its not just my brothers laptop doing what you describe.
Hi guys got the same problem. I got it fixed using an appended solution I found, and seems to be working. Go back to the shortcut as describe in the article above but also add xres=800 as shown below:
been trying to get it to work for four hours now, and it finally works now thanks to this thing. Just one thing, I use gameranger to play online and so far the singleplayer works, but the multiplayer still gives the error. got any idea?
I recently purchased the extended edition of this game through Steam, yet whenever I load the game up it will completely shut down my computer without warning. I get no error messages and my laptop is not overheated at all. I have tried restoring the files and restarting my computer, but the same problem persists. I am using a Samsung with Window 8.1. I was testing this game recently and discovered that by default when hosting a LAN game online using Tunngle, it likes to use your default IP address assigned by your router. An example would be 192.168.0.1. This is irritating because you want the game to recognize your Tunngle IP address. What to do?
4) Launch the game. Host. In the top left hand corner, you will see your Tunngle IP address. It will show off as 7.X.X.XXX or whatever your IP address turns out to be. If you are a client, just wait until the host is back online.
5) Alt-Tab to the desktop, re-enable your Internet adapter. Tunngle will reconnect itself. Now everybody should have done this disconnect trick. If you want to join the host, when you go to the multiplayer section you will see the game and now you can join!
I have a problem, i do all the stuff as said in the guide, age of mythology sees my tunngle ip(7.xxxx) and my friend can see my game but when he joins a counter starts and it just hangs there until the counter ends:( I have disabled my firewall and port 11155 is open) can u help me?
Ive followed ur guide with max focus and lost some time trying to get with my other friend and cant successfully connect to AOM. When i go log AOM i can actually see his host game and when i try to connect it tells me to wait 120secs and then nothing happens after that.
I need more details than that to help you. What kind of error message are you seeing, what operating system are you on, what have you tried so far? Have you looked at the Microsoft Support Ticket for the game? This issue is in rare cases caused by something other than a screen resolution issue.
This post was for the original Age of Mythology. Extended edition is slightly different with different options and different requirements. From a quick read through this post you could try adding the following after your target instead (640 is apparently too small for AOMEE):
+window xres=1280 yres=1024
Keep in mind, you must have a DirectX 10 supported video card for AOMEE to work. I would install the latest DirectX and video card drivers as often the cause of the error seems to be a corrupted driver.
Are you sure +forceD3D9 is the way to enable 32 bit resolution? If the 32 bit resolutions are not available its more likely that the game cannot recognize your video card and automatically allows you only a very small pool of low settings. You should be able to hack around this by following the steps on this post: -of-mythology/age-of-mythology-square-fog-of-war-and-water-glitch/
PLZ Help me. I have Aom Extended Edition.There was a problem before that it used to always ask dll files.So i downloaded and put the files in the folder.Now it tells intialization fail.So i typed xres=640.But still it didnot help me. :(
Hey! So I tried every solution on this page. I have zBook and running WIndows 7. According to the specifications, my computer should run this game just fine. In fact, when I installed it one year ago, it worked. But now, every time I try to run it, the menu appears, and when I click play, it sometimes says launching Age of Mythology: The Titans, but then it disappears and nothing happens. No error message, nothing. Anyone knows what to do?
Help! I have tried every solution on here and it is still not working. Age of mythology works fine but when I launch Age of Mythology the Titans Expansion it gives me this initialization error message. Im pretty sure the screen resolution or size is not the problem because Age of Mythology works fine. Any Ideas?
Hey there, please help me. I am a big fan of AoM series and have been playing them for years on my PC. I recently upgraded to the latest windows 10 and it even got the anniversary update. So i installed AoM Extended edition which I got thru torrent. It is the same pc I used to play before and it worked fine but now I get initialization error. I have tried the x res settings(ran as admin too) and everything that you said, please help I want to play it so bad.
Okay so I use this software called Gameranger to play my game Age of Empires (conqueror's expansion) and usually , there is this issue that happens. If your name appears in italic while you're in a room which you've hosted or joined , you will basically be kicked off because an italic player is never able to actually enter a game and play it. The situation is something like this :
A thing to notice here is that although I'm the non-italic one (FateDontExist) , it's the other way around for everyone else. As it's a common gameranger issue , I've done a fair bit of googling and trying various "fixes" but nothing works.
A common fix on the internet is port forwarding your router , but I never used a router in the first place , I only use my mobile hotspot to connect to internet on my PC. I tried disabling , re-enabling the firewall , changing the DNS server manually , reset my network adapter , I even reset the PC . But nothing worked.I am still italic in all the room I join . I was able to become non italic by simply using a vpn client but it doesn't help me anymore. I have no clue what to do anymore. I have ran out of ideas. Can someone help me come up with a fix ? And please understand that I can't afford to get a new connection altogether or switch to wired internet.

If your ISP does not supply a static IP, this means that it is doing NAT and your IPis shared between you and other subscribers. This means that you don't have your ownIP address through which outsiders could connect to your computer, so no firewall configuration can help.
