Burglary at Residential Premises:
The current “HOT SPOT” sectors are sector 3 (Weltevreden Park) and sector 4 (Ruimsig), with the “HOT SPOT” times between 06:00 and 12:00. Townhouse Units and Clusters are being hit the hardest and owners are again urged to review the security at these premises and ensure that everything is in working condition, for eg. electric gates and electric fences. Residents in the Weltevreden Park area are asked to be on a lookout for two males driving a black Volvo believed to be involved in House Breakings in this suburb.
House Robberies:
On Sunday morning at about 04:00 the complainant and his girlfriend were sleeping, in their townhouse in Sundowner, when they were awoken by a noise. They were approached by a suspect who tied them up and ransacked the house. The suspect fled the scene with a laptop, video camera and other electrical equipment.
In another incident the complainant was watching TV, in Randpark Ridge, when two males knocked at the door. They ordered the complainant to open the door and then held up the complainant and other occupants of the house. The suspects ransacked the house and took various items and then fled the scene on foot.
Residents are asked to please ensure that they activate their alarms, close and LOCK the windows and doors of their properties, including all small windows especially during the evenings and at night.
Theft of and out of motor vehicle:
Where possible residents must not park their vehicle outside premises or on the verge during the evening. Rather park the vehicle inside the property, preferably behind locked gates.
When fetching children, or going shopping, or to gym etc. please ensure that your vehicle’s alarm is switched on and other safety measures are in place, for eg. Gearlock.

Subject: CRIME BRIEF
Hi Roger,
We live in Boskruin - during November 2008 we went on leave for a few days.
When we got back from leave on the Saturday afternoon, we noticed that the electric gate was not working.
(it opened but then it did not close)
I also noticed a new "sticker" on the gate and one on the gate motor.
The Sticker was for "K&R Gate Auto, Installations and Repairs to Intercoms and gate motors"
(011 433-2204 and 082 333-2652)
We use a different company for all our gate repair work, so these "stickers" were new to me.
When I got our gate repair person to come and look at the gate, we found that the wire from the
gate motor to the sensor was cut and the wire to the intercom.
(something which was very easy to do but very costly to fix!!)
It is my feeling that "K&R Gate Auto" created some work for themselves. I also phoned these
numbers, but they all went to a "voice mail". (I also have had no response from them)
Maybe you can find out if other people in the area had the same thing happen to them.
Kind Regards
Fabian Nunes.
