Take note of this report everyone. We just do not have any idea of how often or how much of this happens on our doorstep!!

Hi there
At work so I don’t have all the e-mail addresses. Please could you send an e-mail to our community.
This afternoon my 17-year old son was approached by a young black male wearing a black leather jacket and black jeans (clean shaven head) about 5ft6 offering my son “coke” or “weed”. This was near to the entrance to the Boskruin Village Shopping centre (Woolies centre).
Please parents, do the drug-talk with all your teenagers and warn them about these types of offers and what they should do when approached.
My son contacted 10111 and gave all the info and a good description to the Metro Police, and fortunately we have – thanks to Tish – a cell phone number of an Inspector with the Narcotics division – Insp Baloyi – 082-822-6647.
Protect the kids by teaching them to be vigilant without causing panic and having telephone numbers handy for these types of situations.
- Say “NO”
- Don’t make a scene
- Walk away
- Take note of as much detail as you possibly can – scars, features, dress, direction in which they were heading etc etc
- Call Crimestop 08-600-10111 or the Honeydew Police Station: 011-794-1960/1969
I will also take my son around to the Boskruin Village Management offices (if there is such a placeJ!) so that they can be made aware of these activities.
Kind regards
Lee

Crime in our area
Hi Roger
It seems like Boskruin Village is a hive of activity. Yesterday afternoon my son rode his bicycle to Woolworths to go and buy me breadrolls. He left his bicycle right outside the entrance to Woolworths and when he got in line to pay he checked to see that his bicycle was still there. Within the time of him paying and walking out the shop (plus minus 2 minutes) the bicycle was gone. What is so unbelievable is that no security guard, Car park guard, or cleaners saw the bicycle being taken. This is now the second one in less than a year. What I did find out from the driver for the florist shop is that this was the 2nd bicycle that day but in the case of the first bike when they chased the guy he left the bike against the wall. After phoning centre management and being told they would send the security supervisor I waited 10 minutes only to find that they had sent him to Randridge Mall by mistake. The lady at the florist shop was extremely helpful and mentioned that everyday there is an incident and the perpetrators seem to be coming from the squatters next to the garage. The security camera outside Woolworths also does not work so Im not sure what the point of having it is. I just want to make everyone aware to tell your kids not to leave anything around at the moment as it seems crime is rife in that centre at the moment and the perpetrators are watching people.
Regards
Michelle
