Hunting and Fishing

getting backlogged as I get new insights i want to share.
This Sunday, after service, we'll make confirmations that you want to
develop this ministry. The problem really is that we haven't even
started, and some of you that were excited to start are not even
willing to respond to an email.
Anyway, this is something I wanted to share -- and before it gets lost
due to other pressing agenda, I want to share the differences between
hunting and fishing.
We ought to be fishers.

Hunting is to go after certain people. This is somewhat like street
evangelism. We go out, grab someone and say -- you must come to accept
Jesus. If some people do come to accept Jesus, great ~ but most of the
time people are offended by this approach.
Another example of hunting is when we go after our friends directly.
Come believe in Jesus because I DO! That just doesn't cut it.

Fishing is to wait on people. When they desire to be caught, they will come.
This requires a holy, attractive lifestyle to make this possible.
So, if you tell people to come to church, but you curse people, hurt
them, offend them in your daily lives, there's very little chance
you'll catch fish.

So in short, in our ministry, we need to keep working on ourselves.
Our group won't grow too fast from the start, but as we grow
personally in our characters and in our relationships, this ministry
will "all of a sudden" explode. This is what I foresee.
I encourage you to remain in this ministry to see this come true.
Just take note, we have not even started yet! God is going to do so
much in our personal lives as well as toward the communities around
us! Come and see.
