Dear BROKE folk,

This message came in today from land defender Romilly Cavanaugh, the engineer who used to work for Kinder Morgan at the tank farm, then was convinced of the seriousness of the risks and was subsequently arrested with Secwépemc Matriarch April Thomas and Nlaka’pamux Matriarch Billie Pierre. They are raising money for legal fees. I just donated, and invite you to join me if you feel so moved.

Hi All, 

I hope you are doing well!

As many of you know, April, Billie and I were not able to have our TMX convictions overturned by the BC Court of Appeal. I've decided not to continue appealing, and served the last of my jail sentence in July (a total of 21 days). 

April and Billie are continuing to fight for justice for all land and water protectors, and recognition of Indigenous rights and title. Their lawyer has submitted an application to have an appeal of their convictions heard at the Supreme Court of Canada. 

I’m supporting them by setting up a Gofundme for their ongoing legal fees and their lawyer's travel expenses. I wanted to let you know about it and kindly ask that you pass the link along to anyone in your circle who might be interested in helping them out with their fundraising efforts.
