This is Ash in so-called 'Vancouver', wondering if you're feeling as enraged as I am about the Canadian and BC governments rolling out more of our taxpayer dollars for fossil fuel projects at an alarming rate. You can take action with the Decolonial Solidarity Structured Organizing campaign to build people power and win rights for all of us.
Carney’s spring economic statement referenced 11 LNG projects at various stages across Canada, of which 7 are in BC. This scale of the planned LNG buildout highlights an immediate need for national organizing to raise our urgent concerns with MPs, who are considering throwing away billions of public dollars on risky and dangerous projects that violate Indigenous rights. These so-called "Projects of National Interest" (PONIs) get fast tracked funding.
In good news, a few dedicated individuals have been working to build power in MP Gregor Robertson's riding since Feb 2026. Gregor is the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and head of Canada Infrastructure Bank which is being primed to fund LNG projects. We have over 50 written signatures from Gregor's constituents opposing taxpayer money for LNG projects. We will deliver the petition next week, on Thu, May 21 at 2:30 pm. Please reply to this email if you live in the riding and can join the petition delivery for greater impact. The purpose of the petition is to win a meeting with Gregor so that a group of constituents can tell Gregor why LNG is NOT a nice PONI.
Shockingly, a few meetings with key ministers have revealed that top government officials are not aware that Ksi Lisims is 100% American-owned, and NOT Indigenous-owned. It is up to us to ensure that MPs are forced to confront this inconvenient fact as they face the decision to invest public dollars in these projects.
Even more alarming, news stories have been breaking over the last week showing that both the LNG Canada terminal and the Fortis pipeline are in violation of their environmental permits by spewing black smoke for hours over residents of Kitimat, 40 times beyond its permitted limits, and discharging 365 million litres of effluent contaminated with heavy metals into the Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound biosphere. MPs are undoubtedly also ignorant of the horrible safety track record that these projects have.
It’s time to turn up the temperature on our MPs and drown out the voice of oil and gas lobbyists as MPs return to their constituent offices in June.

Structured Organizing Workshop
When: Saturday, May 23 from 1 PM - 3 PM PT
Where: on Jitsi. Register here for Structured Organizing Workshop.
Join us for a theory and practice workshop on Structured Organizing, the method we use to build majorities in structure-based settings (like a neighbourhood or political riding) for successful campaigns. Structured organizing has methods that support an organizing conversation and identify leaders who can move large numbers of people in your neighbourhood to take action. You and I and our neighbours working together can build power in the neighbourhood to win rights for clean energy and stop billionaire LNG projects! If you want to know more about how we do what we do and how you can even adapt the skills to your own projects, come join us!

CIB Phone Zap
The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is considering whether to provide a loan for the proposed Ksi Lisims LNG project, and board members need to hear from Canadian taxpayers before they make their decision.
On Thursday, join a phone zap and add your voice to the chorus telling them to vote NO to any investment in Ksi Lisims LNG:
When: Thursday, May 28, 9 AM PDT / 12 PM EDT
Where: Register on Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/W_8vwZ7lS5mR5MaNVDDzsQ
Why? Because money invested in Ksi Lisims LNG is money invested in a project wholly-owned and operated by a Texas-based company, supported by American private equity companies, and largely constructed and manufactured outside Canada. Meanwhile, the project faces ongoing legal challenges from First Nations who have not consented to the terminal and associated pipeline, flaring and tankers from the terminal would present a clear threat to the environment and human health, and even its financial success is far from guaranteed.
At a time when Canadians need investments in affordable housing, public transit, clean energy, healthcare infrastructure, and projects that strengthen communities, public dollars should not be used to subsidize a risky, polluting and Indigenous rights violating LNG export project.
Your call can help send a clear message: Canadians want the Canada Infrastructure Bank to focus on its public-interest mandate and invest in projects that create lasting benefits for people and communities.
Skillshare on MP meetings
When: Monday, June 1st, 7 PM ET/4 PM PT
Where: on Zoom. Register here for Skillshare on MP Meetings
Join us for a Zoom skillshare for organizers who are planning or preparing for meetings with MPs. The goal of this event is to create a space for organizers to compare notes with people in other regions who are also trying to meet with their MP. Across the country, organizers have been emailing MPs, hosting rallies, collecting petition signatures, and informing their neighbours about these issues, and in a few locations they are starting to get responses.
No matter how far along you are in this process, we would really love for you to join and share your ideas, success stories, or frustrations with people working on similar challenges. Supporting each other throughout this difficult and infuriating process is incredibly important.
Strategy Meetings for "Vancouver": Phase 2 Structured Organizing
When: Wednesdays May 27 - June 24, 2026, 7 PM PT
Where: on Jitsi. Email to get the meeting link and join the campaign Signal chat.
After the Structured Organizing workshop we'll strategize how to use the power we built in Phase 1 to build even more power in Phase 2 and our long range organizing plan to the end of 2026 and into 2027. You and I working together can build power in MP Gregor's riding to win a meeting and funding for housing and renewable energy!
Looking forward to seeing you!
