Just tried replying to Brogadoons and it bounced back. Having a lot of e-mail problems here. So if anyone asks about SI training, please forward my reply.
Back in about 4 weeks time. Snow is still fantastic.

INSTRUCTOR COURSE
Hi Everyone
Mike is quite right. We did get an RYA grant to put 4 people through SI training. It was both to support OB/T15 work AND (at the time) to allow Brogborough to carry on running RYA courses. It was an RYA requirement that an SI had to be present at the club whenever any teaching was carried out. This has since been relaxed and now an SI has to be present whenever there is more than one teaching group on the water.
So if anyone is interested in doing an SI course for their own personal development, I’d say go for it. But the club actually has as many SI s as it needs, so financial support is unlikely to be available.
And yes, a number of us are going to need to renew our First Aid Certs this autumn. Work in hand.
Regards
John

I am pretty sure that the
RYA paid for the course when Pam, John and I got ours and Mark refreshed his.
This was to support our OB and T15 activities.
It was held as a two centre course at Alton Water and Brog. I suggest you
let John take the lead if the numbers add up.
I think we all need to repeat our First Aid this September.
