mobile broadband, comments on the technology

Hello Rob,

I am analyzing the mobile broadband dataset and it is very interesting. There is a big variety of countries and operators.

I am particularly interested in the technologies of the mobile broadband offers and there are some of them (around 55%) that have a blank field.

Any particular reason for this missing information? For instance, in Spain, only Yoigo has a non-blank field for technology. I can tell you that the rest of operators (Movistar, Orange and Vodafone) are using 3G in 2011 and 2012 f you need to fill in the blanks.

I'm glad the dataset is useful. There is no particular reason for blank fields re technology, other than (primarily) the constraints of time and resources. We included technology information if it was readily apparent from the company's website at the time (particularly if a particular plan was associated with a particular technology).

Of course, in practice most operators use a mix of technologies, as you know, so this field represents the 'highest' technology then used
