Shalom from Israel.
Wikipedia was created by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger in 2001 on the premise of subject matter experts sharing their expertise in a free, open-source encyclopedia. This was a creative and democratic enterprise that has been seriously compromised by unethical editors, who are deliberately rewriting verifiable history to reshape your worldview.
In particular, a coterie of some 40 editors - aka the Gang of 40 - are dedicated to demonizing Israel and whitewashing the atrocities of Hamas, PIJ and other terrorist factions. They violate Wikipedia rules of neutrality with impunity, promoting a narrative that is selective, tendentious at best and mendacious at worst.
Google and other search agents reference Wikipedia at the top of their results pages. Wikipedia content posted on social media disseminates anti-Jewish, Israel-bashing propaganda. AI programs, like Chat GPT, feed its large language model (LLM) with Wikipedia content. There is a continuous process of false and incendiary data looped back over a vast range of information and content providers.
The Gang of 40 is now recruiting new editors to rewrite history and amplify the lie that Israel committed a genocide in Gaza. EuroMed, a Hamas front group, is openly promoting the training of new editors to share their narratives as “Gaza genocide victims.”
To confront the numerous anti-Israel articles requires people who are willing to dedicate time and effort to challenge Wikipedia editors and to abide by Wikipedia's strict rules. It will take at least 100 more fully authorized editors to win this battle for the truth.
Please consider joining the effort to bring Wikipedia to stem the flow of false information about Israel, Jews and the Middle East as a whole. Also, please circulate this mail among your friends and contacts. Wikipedia is a brilliant idea which is being held hostage by hostile elements seeking to impose a world order, antithetical to the values of the western world.
With many thanks,
Patricia Carmel, Wikipedia editor
