It has been said that the European Union ensures that there will not be another war in Europe. However, with power residing with the EU, democratic elections are losing their meaning. As a result of this, and the EU’s one-size-fits-none policy failures, people in many EU states are turning to political extremes. Furthermore, historical enmity between such countries as Greece and Germany are now resurfacing. These factors could undermine peace, stability and security in Europe. Q. The European Union is both anti-democratic and illiberal. Britain's tradition of the rule of law has been the best guarantee of liberty. We want to free ourselves from the supranationalist spider’s web of the European Union, and by doing so, contribute to the wider defence of democracy and liberty in Europe.
