UKSA: UK Space Agency and Roscosmos sign agreement

Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency, Vladimir Popovkin and David
Williams, CEO of the UK Space Agency, have signed an agreement today
outlining cooperation in the area of space activities.

The signing of the document was the result of discussions held in
London on 13 July to promote continued collaboration within the
framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two
organisations signed on 21 July 2010.

Potential areas of co-operation include the establishment of a working
group of Russian and British space experts, agreement to review
GLONASS application issues, as well as the potential to carry out
microgravity experiments on the International Space Station.

On 14 July 2011, the Russian and British delegations attended the
unveiling of the Yuri Gagarin statue outside of the British Council's
headquarters in London which is a gift from the Russian Federal Space
Agency to the British Council to mark the 50th Anniversary of the
first manned space flight in 1961.
