Dear Friends,
I sincerely hope that the convention was a great success. Although I could not be present, my thoughts and prayers were with you. In my mind I can see the school so clearly, all the houses, classrooms, dormitories, and diningroom. Perhaps the compound has changed dramatically since my departure in 1978, it would be great if you could post some photographs on this site.

God bless you all !
Warren De Boer.

Just curious...was Mr. De Boer a teacher or a student?

Erukaa,
De Boer that we met in 1976 was both a teacher, a technician and  a Mr. Fix it .

He gave as our first unleavened Bread as our CRK teacher ! Long before most of us could be baptised to seat for holy Communion.

But if he had a son that was a student at Bristow during that time , I was not aware of it.

But our teachers do attend BAA convention too .

Azever.

It must have been fun, what a miss. I have already promised myself that God willing i'll be at the next edition.
I honestly dont remember meeting Mr. De Boer, but i have heard of the interesting things he did. It will indeed be cool if we can see some pix!
More grease to your elbows fellow alumni and alumnae.

The convention was a great success and well attended.

I hereby seize this opportunity to call on all BAA members in Abuja and environs, to please endeavour to be attending our monthly meetings. This will enable us make meaningful and robust contributions to move our great Alma Mata to the greatest heights.

You are correct. That's the DeBoer I vaguely remember. He was all over the place doing all that was needed for everything to run smoothly! Shi yange tesen tica kpaa! A total package he was!

It's the Warren name that gave me some hiccups! LOL

Esteemed Members,
Thanks for your kind support for the success of the BAA 2014 Annual
Convention.your prayers ,financial ,physical contributions are highly
appreciated.

Thank you all for bringing warmth to this forum. if you maintain this
tempo sooner than later every BAA member will hear of what is going on
and would like to participate.

DEBOER. for clarification, he is the one that taught at Bristow in
the late 70s, I got in touch an d after some explanation he sent his
email and we proudly added him. kindly continue to communicate with
him and the likes of Prof. Harold Bergsma, OUR FIRST PRINCIPAL,Gord
Buys, Vanderssteen,Dykgraaf, etc who are on this form already. I
believe that if we probe them we shall one day have in our archives
more information on or our school ,Bristow and the staff.
Humor. our senior Ityonzughul I believe wanted to add humor to this
forum based on his posting. others can talk about late Pever Ge. etc.
share the moments that always remend us that we were at Bristow.

reoports and photos of the 2014 convention will be posted later.
blessings,
James Tsegba,

In response to Charlie Erukaa,  I was a teacher at WMBSS from 1972- 1978. Besides teaching, I was involved in quite a bit of building and also maintenance. Our second son died at Bristow in 1974 and is buried in Mkar. We left WMBSS  when Mr. Gaady was principal. I have many good memories of Bristow. My wife was teaching needle work and sewing to the girls at times.
I do not remember ever given unleavened bread to anyone! I did do teaching of singing, and we did some singing at the youth centre in Gboko.
Is mr. Pever Ge still alive? what about Aya the matron at the girls dorm?

yea,  now I remember. This was the man that had a Kawasaki machine that never kicked twice. Once the the first kick does not work all his spanners would be on the floor to check the fault. Good at fixing the goal post at football pitch, school horn, showers at bathrooms and our school generator that supply elctricity to Gboko town etc. God bless you.

Orvesen Boer,
Charles and I came to WMBSS a little after you left. As a pupil in Robert  F. Kennedy nursery and primary school (the only nursery sch in Benue state then)  I sneaked away from school during break, and went across  the road to watch as you mowed the school football field in a small yellow motorized lawn mower. That image became ingrained in my mind for all the years I was in primary sch, When i got into Bristow in 1980, i longed to see the mower, i eventually saw its scrap behind the workshop adjacent the girls hostel.  A young energetic man, called Nuku, was the one who did all the maintenance work. extend my warm regards to your family.

‎Elder Kaor

Your mention of Nuku has brought me into a thread featuring mostly ancestors and elders (terms used respectfully, to refer to those who left WMBSS long before some of us got there).

I met Nuku when I got admitted into WMBSS in September 1995.‎ He remained hardworking, energetic and fast paced as he hurried on all errands. Not once was he ever late to put on the generator nor pump water to us.

He has also since retired from WMBSS.‎ Sir Boer must have been a huge influence on Nuku or at least the latter's choice might have been influenced by a need to get someone of Sir Boer's commitment and dedication to work.

Ray Magen. (6059)‎

Sir, De Boer,

We were in form 1977, one and you were taken as CRK and you wanted to demonstrate to us how bread u I we kwa shami ga , unleavened bread, alu yo .

You brought a bread that was hard to break and we were made to eat it. Many drank water and coke after that bread claiming that we have taken Holy communion !
That bread had no taste at all and a bit hard .
