So, after thinking upon it i think we should go with the idea of basing it on Tommy's SICP. Quick list of reasons:
1) Appeal outside of 'just clojure'. Clojure is the medium, but the lessons are interesting in their own right.
2) We get a schedule and content for the whole year with minimum effort, if Tommy's ok with that idea of course. This is such a massive win it can't be overstated.
I think we go for bi-monthly, so every other month get together and discuss whatever has come in the last two months of content. I don't think we'll watch videos, but more go over exercises. We then have room to expand into our own content later in the year as demand dictates in the non SICP months.
So, (assuming everyone agrees) things to do:
1) Contact Tommy, check this is ok and see when he might be available to come down and do some kind of intro. I don't *think* this is 100% required for the plan, but it would be nice.
2) Based on outcome of 1, choose a date, i think it needs to be at least a month out to allow for 3.
3) Divide up bristol tech groups, contact and visit to promote the plan!
Sound like a plan? Well it is a plan... Sound like a plan you agree with and want to do?
