Hello all!
We are the new owners of a 1980 B 40 yawl hull #117.  So far I have replaced the Edson helm relay, and repaired numerous other systems so now I am trying to find out how the hot water heater works, and the fridge is still inop. I believe that this boat still has factory installed water heater and fridge so does anyone have any info on wiring diagrams maintenance manuals ect on these components? I come from an aviation background so there is some adjustment for me.

Thanks all !
Gordon Scott

Gordon,

Here’s a link to the Westerbeke water heater installation service bulletin:

Thanks Scott,

What I think is the or a water heater is between the sink in the galley area and the outboard side of the hull. I have not yet but will bring my bore scope and see if I can find a data plate. I am already seeing that these boats are more like an RV than an aircraft, there is so much variety in components.

I will get some additional data and repost.

Gordon.

Could it be an accumulator tank for the pressure water system?

If it’s a water heater, in addition to the potable water system connection, it should have a set of coolant lines to/ from the engine, and a 120v ac wire from your 120v shore power panel. If it doesn’t have either of those I’m guessing that would be an accumulator.

This is showing me an overboard dump line and I do know where the accumulator is after tracking it down so this is probably the water heater. It does not have any casing to it and it is white in color. I will be back on the boat this Saturday with a borescope and try to locate a data plate. Thank you Matt for the input.
