Greetings from a new member.

My (new to me) 1986 Bristol 35.5 still has what appear to be the original stainless steel nav lights attached to the original brackets (i.e. the "take out the bulb mount from the bottom, take out bottom retaining screw, loosen the top backing nuts and lift (pound) up to get off" set up). The plastic is beyond repair (non existent in stern light). I'm wondering what others have done when replacing the nav lights - what manufacturer and type, and if/how you've attached the new lights to the existing old brackets.

Thanks,

Annapolitan

The foredeck red and green running lights and the stern light lenses on my 1989 Bristol 35.5c were also cracked and corroded.  The stainless steel housings were in good condition.

These navigation lights were from a German firm, Peter and Bey.  https://www.peters-bey.com/en/
There have a very well planned website, and were helpful to find a US dealer.

The lightbulbs are also readily available in the US, now as LED bulbs.

Welcome to the Bristol Yachts group!

I have good luck with these LED lights from Westmarine. they fit nicely on the teak base of the old lights.

Marilyn, thanks for your responses and guidance.  Yeah, my SS fixtures are in great condition, and I've found the replacement bulbs, it's the plastic that can't be replaced (my original PB units are sealed).  So if I can find the PB near replacements (the PB 420 series which look similar to original, and which are apparently discontinued though some sites still list them as available) I'll get them or will have to go with one of the different manufacturers and will have to figure out some adapter to get them to install to original brackets.

Cheers

Grover, thanks.  Mine are currently attached to the original vertical bracket and I'm hoping to retain that configuration rather than mounting horizontally on the teak base, but that might be where I end up.

Cheers,

So to update, I was able to find in essence the original light fixture from here (the 410 model)  https://www.yachtboatparts.com/type-400--410-navigation-lights-166-c.asp

I only needed the stern light for now, and when I receive it will update as to whether it matches up to the current bracket welded on boat and whether the my existing bottom entry bulb fixture works thereby eliminating any splicing.

Thanks for all the help, and Cheers,

Annapolitan
