Hello Bristol owners;
As a follow-up to my previous post and to provide additional information regarding the boat to those who requested.
Sorcerer is a 40ft centerboard Bristol Yawl built in 1980.
We are the second owners.
Sorcerer was purchased in 2006 from the original owners who used her lightly and had all maintenance performed by professionals. After purchasing the boat we sailed her almost every weekend and took part in the annual the week-long cruise in Long Island Sound which our club sponsored for about 3years. When in CT the boat was hauled out of the water for the cold months when I performed whatever maintenance was required. In 2008 we moved her to Hampton, Virginia, where the boat has been docked ever since, coming out of the water from November thru February most years.
The boat was 26 years old when we purchased her and we weighed rebuilding the existing engine vs replacing with a new engine. We opted to re-power.
And, in 2006 a 37.5HP Beta Marine Diesel was installed with new running gear and fuel tank.
The boat had rudimentary roller-furling which I had replaced with a modern furler.
Some of the updates which I installed are;
Scaefer - Roller-furling
Garhauer - Mainsheet Traveler
Lavac - head
Holding tank (which was not installed prior to our acquiring the boat)
Lewmar - Self-Tailing Genoa winches
in addition to the upgrades which I installed or had installed, the cabin sole is teak and holly, original to the boat.
Hope this answers some questions you might have.
If any additional information is needed let me know
and I will be happy to provide it.
Regards,
Mike Biondi
