Hey Guys,

The hack night and the last BRUG were a bit of a disaster so I'm getting on the ball early for the next BRUG so it doesn't happen again. Does anyone have anything they'd like to do a talk on or show at the next BRUG? It will be held on Thursday 30th Sept.

I've been working mostly in JavaScript for the last few months so I'd be happy to do a talk on something JavaScript based if that would be interesting to people, possibly about testing in JavaScript? I could cover some of the more difficult/awkward test situations you can come across in JavaScript land. I've written a library called webMooch that could do with a bit of polishing and finishing and this could give me the kick in the ass I need to do it :)

Would love to learn some practical methods for javascript testing (currently it's all about console.log!)

I would be interested in continuing along my vain of talks about languages other than ruby if that would interest people? Specifically I would rather like to present a loverly little language that nice to write but AOT compiled, performant but portable and generally rather spiffing!

What is it?

I've been looking at Padrino lately, so I can give a quick introt that
if people would be interested. I've also been working with Heroku for
a long time, so I could so something about deploying to heroku and the
drawbacks/workarounds that entails?

An idea: I've been playing with some of Git's power recently, I'd love
to have a sort of round-table demo where we share tips and teach each
other stuff?

Same goes for Ruby, and some of the deeper meta-programming aspects. I
know random little pieces but I've never really explored it in depth.

I like that,

Personally this month I'm playing with coffee-script, rooibos, mongoid and all that jazz.

When is the next Brug btw, is there a day fixed yet?

Nic, it's always been the last Thursday of the month, and probably always will be ;) So the next one is 30th September.

It's in my Diary :)

Would you like to do it at Jiva or do we fancy a trip to the
Paintworks this month?

Cheers
Steve
