Custom deserializer

Hello,
I have an existing cassandra table where I store encoded objects
(protocol buffers). What steps do I have to do to write my own serde
interface for data coming from my cassandra table? Do I modify the
cassandra storage handler class? Also, I did not find the source for
this class in the repository, where do I check it out?
