Tolle Groups in Southeast Qld Marie Condon is hosting a weekly meeting at Bellbowrie on Thurs at 7pm. Meetings are held in her home 10am to 12 noon every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. For more information, visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/brisbane-eckhart-tolle-silent-group Meetings: We meet each Thursday at St Mary’s Church, Merivale St, South Brisbane. Although the meetings are held in a Catholic Church, we are not affiliated with any religion. The church is open from 6:15 pm to allow silent meditation, or a cup of coffee. We ask everyone to be present from 6:45 with the meeting starting at 7 pm. The meeting finishes at 9pm, with an open invitation to go from the church to a local coffee shop to continue the discussion. How to get there: The meeting is in the church itself, not at the adjacent Parish Hall. To get there, take the driveway at 20 Merivale Street and park in the car park. The car park is well flood lit. Knock if the church door is closed and we have started. Note: Parking can be difficult as there are other meetings nearby, and the car park can be full. Make sure you allow plenty of time to find an alternative. What we do: We commence and end with silence and each week either read a section of one of Tolle’s books or watch a part of one of Tolle’s videos. The 'meditations' are usually up to 15 minutes at beginning and end. Afterwards, we retire for a coffee at The Three Monkeys coffee shop on Mollison St, West End to continue any discussions. Our library: There is a large a/v library for lending. There is a one off fee of $5 to borrow from the library. (This covers the cost of replacement discs, cases, etc). The cost: There is no formal cost, but we request a gold coin donation each week per person. A Gentle Reminder - There is no meeting this week. Our next meeting is Thursday 16th Apr, 2009 at 6:45pm Venue - We meet at St Mary’s Catholic Church in South Brisbane. This Week's Theme– Our reading groups will continue with The Power of Now and A New Earth. The video is part of the Talk series - Living a Life of Inner Peace Extract from Oneness with All Life When you react against the form that Life takes at this moment, when you treat the Now as a means, an obstacle, or an enemy, you strengthen your own form identity, the ego. Hence the ego’s reactivity. What is reactivity? Becoming addicted to reaction. The more reactive you are, the more entangled you become with form. The more identified with form, the stronger the ego. Your Being then does not shine through form anymore—or only barely. Our Annual Tolle retreat Now that Eckhart has been and gone, we will begin preparations for our own retreat. We will meet at the Theosophical Society’s retreat venue at Springbrook over the weekend of 14-16 August. Cost to be advised, but should be similar to last years of less than $200. There is a limit of 32 positions at the retreat centre so start to make your bookings now by contacting Craig. It is not possible for us to remain meeting in the church. We are able to meet at the House however, subject to availability. This will basically mean meetings changing to fortnightly as that is the availability of the House. Will keep you informed. Unfortunately, due to ill health, Susan will not be able to continue the group that was meeting at Manly. All the best Susan, and thank you for helping increase consciousness in the world.
