If you did have an error then in the majority of cases, the solution is to properly reinstall mfplat.dll on your PC, to the Windows system folder. Alternatively, some programs, notably PC games, require that the DLL file is placed in the game/application installation folder.

Don't download mfplat.dll from a "DLL download" website. There are many reasons why downloading a DLL file is a bad idea. If you need a copy of this file, it's best to obtain it from its original, legitimate source.

The mfplat.dll missing error has been reported by plenty of users. If you are one of them, this article should be helpful for you. Here, MiniTool Partition Wizard puts together several workarounds that may help you get rid of the mfplat.dll missing issue.

The mfplat.dll not found or missing error might come up when you are trying to run PLEX or some other similar streaming services, or playing certain games that actively use the Media Feature Pack mentioned in the error message. Generally speaking,

In this case, you need to install the Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N manually. But before that, you had better check the Windows version you are using at first. If you are sure you are using Windows 10 N, you need to visit the Microsoft website to download the Media Feature Pack of N version of Windows 10 and install it properly.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling fresh. I have tried disabling all addons and extentions. I have updated my drivers on my computer, and all extentions for firefox. I have updated all my anti-virus and anti-malware programs. I have tried creating a new profile for firefox. I have turned off hardware acceleration. Nothing works.

So I might have figured out what's going on. On the bug report, it states that disabling media.windows-media-foundation.enabled would relieve this crash report. Curious about this, I checked to see if a pref existed. It did not. Of course, I was running nothing but pre-release versions of Firefox (Nightly, Aurora) and I couldn't find the damn pref.

Guess what? 29.0.1 has it.

Thinking aloud

Right now I'm lookin' through your reports and I don't see anything out of the ordinary but it seems like mfplat.dll is the reason why Firefox crashed. mfplat.dll is a Windows Media Foundation Platform file. Previously when this bug was reported, it was back in Firefox 20 or 21. Disabling the media.windows-media-foundation.enable pref in about:config was the solution however, Firefox 29 has since removed that preference. So that solution isn't available anymore. EDIT: I was using Aurora and Nightly to test. AFAIK 29.0.1 HAS this pref in true default.

There is a plug in that is being failed to be disabled. Check in about:config and look for plugin. It may be the one Moses is talking about above, but the bug associated with the last crash is old. And run a virus scan just in case. Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of. Better yet, if you can't open it try a clean reinstall and clear some of those malware related plugins.

Thank you so much! I came across this option when I was trying to diagnose the crash and I didn't have the option for "media.windows-media-foundation.enabled" in the about:config so I gave up on that.

To fix mfplat.dll errors, download the file and reinstall it in the Windows system folder. In some cases, the file must be in the folder with the game or program. For detailed instructions on how to install the DLL and other libraries, see "Help" section.
