Readers,

Is brightway2 compatible with the free openlca databases?

By OpenLCA databases, I guess you mean this: https://nexus.openlca.org/brands

Brightway2 can import Ecospold v. 1 and 2, and SimaPro CSV files. See the IO documentation here: http://bw2data.readthedocs.org/en/latest/io.html

The ILCD format used for ELCD is a giant mess, but I guess you could run it through the OpenLCA format converter (http://www.openlca.org/openlca-format-converter) to Ecospold 1. I don't know about the others.

Brightway2 is open source, and driven by a "scratch your itch" philosophy - if you need a different format, then the most effective path forward is to write it and send a pull request. See http://brightway2.readthedocs.org/en/latest/contributing.html
