Would BrightstarDB be a good choice for an embedded DBMS for a general purpose accounting and LOB application?

Hi Clark

Its difficult to say exactly - it would depend on what you wanted the LOB application to achieve. In general I think BrightstarDB is worth considering for any .NET application requiring an embedded database - for any particular case you probably have to spend a little bit of time investigating.

In general if you want the ability to extend / migrate the data model over time, BrightstarDB will make this much easier than an RDBMS. Also if you are planning to handle more connected data (with relationships explicit in the model) then again BrightstarDB is probably a good choice. If you are planning an application with a fixed data model or a fixed tabular approach to the data, then you will most likely find it better to use an RDBMS (but I would still say try BrightstarDB out too!).

Cheers

Kal

Hi Kal,

That's great news, because I think BrightstarDB might be ideal for my project.  In any case, I am definitely going to try it out.

Thanks, Clark
