WOULD YOU LIKE TO SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST IRRATIONALITY AND SUPERSTITION?

Kerala’s leading rationalist magazine (YUKTHI YUGAM) needs your help!

Dear friends,

We need your donations to help Yukthi Yugam (“the Age of Reason”), the leading rationalist magazine in Malayalam published from Kozhikkode, Kerala. As the tagline “the Age of Reason” suggests, Yukthi Yugam was founded in 2013 as a monthly magazine to promote rational thought, inculcate scientific temper, campaign against religion and other forms of irrationality, and support like-minded organizations such as the Kerala Free Thinkers Forum. Yukthi Yugam has played a leading role in fighting religious fanaticism and exposing various forms of irrationality in our society – including superstitions (such as somayaga), frauds (such as mid brain activation), quackery (such as urine therapy), unscientific practices (such as homeopathy), and so on. While Yukthi Yugam has already accomplished so much in its two years of existence, much more needs to be done to combat the high levels of religious fanaticism and superstition prevalent in our society. Unfortunately, Yukthi Yugam does not have the financial resources to pursue various programs because the magazine’s subscription charges have been fixed at a low rate of Rs. 20 for each monthly issue, which as you can imagine does not even cover the costs of publishing the magazine. That is why we need your support to help Yukthi Yugam grow and flourish, and truly achieve its aim of fostering “the Age of Reason” in our society.

The chief editor of Yukthi Yugam magazine is Dr. C Viswanathan, a renowned orthopedics physician at the Valluvanad Hospital in Ottappalam (Palakkad district), and a prominent speaker and author in the rationalist circles of Kerala. The magazine's editor is E A Jabbar, retired school teacher from Malappuram, and prominent speaker on the need for reform in Islam. The key people behind Yukthi Yugam magazine are -

Chief Advisor: Anand
Chief Editor: Dr. Viswanathan C.
Editor: E.A. Jabbar
Executive Editor: Anu Vinod R
Asst. Editor: Dr. Arun Mangalath
Manager: Prof. N.A. Hameed
Circulation in charge: Vijeesh T.P.

The magazine's postal address is this -

Yukthi Yugam
Firdouse Building, Kallai Road,
Palayam Junction, Chalappuram P.O, Calicut - 673 002
Phone: 7736681042, E-mail: yukth...@gmail.com

The people behind the Yukthi Yugam fund-raising effort are –

Dr. Arun NM Physician, based in Palakkad
Partha Sarathy Senior Vice President of a healthcare company, based in Los Angeles
Dr. Arun Mangalath Physician, based in Kozhikkode
Bansree A S Proprietor of an aluminum fabrication firm, based in Kochi

Thank you for your support for Yukthi Yugam!

Thank you dotcompals for that well composed message. As a subscriber and one who has attended many of the  activities and events organized by the people associated with Yuktiyugam, I should say that  this is one effort that is likely to succeed more than any other in the past and worth all the support that one can offer. Too bad it is presently restricted to Kerala and the magazine is only beginning to go bilingual  (Malayalam and English) but I can see how it can go on and be the forerunner to an English magazine in the not too distant future.   The elan and the scholarly bearing that Yuktiyugam carries is a refreshing change from the run- of- the -mill rationalist magazines ( not to denigrate them since they have also played a important role in the past in molding public discourse) and will hopefully  bring some badly needed refinement in rationalist and humanist movement in the country and make it appealing to a wider  section of people.

I have donated to the cause ( liberally by my standards) and urge you to show your support  so as make the effort a viable one.
